New Camry owner with question about some sound on the passenger side.

Hey guys, new to the forums. I just bought a new 2010 Camry v4 SE last week. Has about 300 miles on it now I'm hearing this sound on the passenger side and maybe it was there before but haven't noticed it. It's getting really annoying and I was wondering what it was. It sounds like it's coming from the front passenger wheel, but I'm not sure. I can't really explain the sound because i don't really know what it sounds like. Seems like everytime I'm going and stopping I would hear it.

I called the dealer and told them and they said that all the new Camry are equipped with ABS and that's whats making the sound.
If anyone have any idea please post back.

Its interesting to know that the dealer knows exactly what it is when you yourself, dont know exactly how to explain it but they can diagnose it over the phone without even seeing it or hearing it.

Take it back. Thats what warranties and service departments are for.

That's what I was thinking. He told me his wife has a new camry and it makes sounds also then told me it was the ABS and it was normal. If it was normal, I think I'd be super annoyed for the next 10 years with this car
I'll probably drop by the dealer tomorrow and have them check it out. Thanks for the quick replies guys.

man I would take it in if I was you, I work at a yota dealership as a tech an can't stand when the service writers do shit like that. We get that alot sometimes with them thinkin they know what is wrong with the vehicle an it end up something completely different. That's what a warranty is for plus I think there is a TSB out for the brake line and I think the power steering line being to close together and rubbing, it may be the brake an a different line not to shore just yet with that one. Was just talkin to the tech next to me today that was checking on something simalier to that noise an he was sayin he found a TSB for that with the brake and power steering lines rubbing. All it is is just puting a spacer in so it don't rub down the brake line. Again not shore if it's even the same problem but either way ya got a warranty I'd go get it checked an let a tech telll ya the problem an not the service writer.

Grrr I know

Thanks tomtom, now I'll definitely bring it to my dealer tomorrow as soon as I can. I wish they would have told me, bring it in tomorrow and we'll take a look rather than trying to just get me off the phone = /.

yeah they seem to be quick with trying to get ya off the phone rather then just tell you to just bring it in and we can get one of our techs to take a look at it an tell ya if it's normal or not. Like I had said befor ethough not shore it's even the same problem but still something to get looked at and while you're at it just make shore your 90L campaign has been done on your camry aswell, it might have been but good to check into aswell. Sorry the 90L campaign is for your gas pedal modification and your floorboard modification then having your ECM reflashed so that if slammed on the brakes for longer then 2 seconds then it will automaticly bring your vehicle to an idle. It more then likely has been done before they sold it to you just when you go in just ask if your 90L campaign has been done or look under your hood and on the hood itself to the right hand side there should be a sticker saying it's been done but there again not all of them do because I know we just got those stickers in a couple days ago and have already done hundreds without being able to put the stickers in.

Hmm I'll be sure to ask tomorrow about the 90L campaign. If it is the same problem, do you know approximately how long it would take for them to fix it? Might find someone to come with me and take me somewhere if it's really long. Well I'll hope for the best.
Once again tomtom, thanks for your help. Really helpful and informative.

well the 90L campaign if not been done yet then they should tell ya it will take atleast 2 hours cause we gota take up part of the carpet to replace a foam piece to make a better clearance by droping your carpet down alittle more an install a tibia pad for a stopper so the pedal can't go all the way to the floor then got cut and sand your gas pedal down an last reflash the ECM like I said before with slamming on the brakes. Sometimes the reflash takes awhile depending on how many people are trying to do that at the same time but I know southeast toyota told us a way to do it so ya don't have to keep trying over and over again when they came to the shop and had a meeting with us about the 90L campaigns and the A0A campaigns. As for the other problem then they should atleast tell you that they have a standard automatic 1 hour diag time for the tech to see what's going on an see if they can duplicate the problem.

Does it sound like a muffled click that only happens right after you start the car and hit a certain speed? Because that's the only time it's a normal ABS sound.
