2010 camry factory alarm

I bought a new Camry LE and the finance mgr asked if I wanted to purchase the alarm for $600.00 and I declined. After signing paperwork the sales man walked me out to the car and told me to stick the extra gray key in the ignition. He then placed a little plastic piece where the alarm light was (under the steering wheel) and said the alarm has been deactivated. question is, if I just remove the plastic piece will my alarm work? I caeed the dealer back and they told me it is a after market alarm called KARR Alarm Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!

I'm not aware of any light under the steering wheel related to a factory security system. The car has an immobilizer by default. On an LE, I thought that every car had the basic security system and as an option you could buy or install later a glass breakage microphone/sensor.The only light is on the dash which flashes if the key (with chip) is not in the ignition. Go to another dealer and look for this same light on their cars. Sounds like the dealer is trying to spiff the deal.
