New Revised Maintainance book ??

Anyone received toyotas new revised maint. schedule handbook. I breifly read over it. It basically stated that its been approved that due to the new engine designs and the use of 0w20 oil the change intervals are now recommended at 10k/1 year lol. Good for my pockets but not sure about the car. Thoughts and comments? anyone else get this packet?

Got mine as well, I'd still go every 5,000-6,000 miles though. I tend to push it, and drive through freeway construction everyday (lot's of dust).

2010 I4 OIL 0w20 update

Just received a letter from Toyota along with the updated warranty and maintenance guide. It states what new synthetic 0w-20 genuine Toyota motor oil allows for the oil change interval to be extended to 10,000 miles/1yr under normal operating conditions. Though the reminder will keep the old intervals of 5,000 miles....

the question is will the filter last 10000 miles of filtration. I think I would spend less on oil but change it more often, with a fresh and clean filter.

+1. Especially if people want to keep their cars longer than the 3-year lease period.

Now even more pissed! Here in Canada they are sticking to the old oil change and it is the same car and engine made in Kentucky by Bill and Bob

Edit: I am fed up of the way they are treating us here in Canada.

My previous 95 Villager had the similar advice from the local dealer in Canada.
The recommeded oil change is 3 months/5000km (from the dealer) instead of 6 months/5000km (from the manufacturer).

It is cold and snowy in winter HERE!

There is an extra precaution for 1 year norm because your Camry could consume engine oil unless you do the oil level check regularly.
How often does an average driver check the oil level and top up? Practically never nowaday!

No, not for a V6

No.

Read your Owners Manual or pop your hood and look at the oil fill cap..........

European Union

In europe they say to change oil and filter only after 15000kms (about 10000mls)...

I have a 2008 TCH and I use 0w20 oil (pain to find it here...).

What are you talking about, much of the USA is just as cold as us. An no the new engines are not burning oil. Mine is to the point I have 0 usage between oil change. Also I would expect them to go for higher oil changes in the deep south. That is much tougher on oil (high heat).

We should be able to go up to the same but I would still keep the same filter change interval. So for every oil change I would do two filter changes.

I am going after Toyota Canada on this.

An Yeah NJ just got a love socialism (not)
