Call your dealer to see if they're offering free $100 gift for fixing your gas pedal!
after I brought my Carmy in for the gas pedal service, my Toyota dealer gave
every customer affected by the recall a free $100 gift card. It's good for any
parts or service invoice at this dealer only. It was actually four $25 gift
cards and came with a letter that said they were sorry for my troubles, blah,
blah, blah.... I didn't expect it, so it was quite a surprise when the serivice
advisor gave it to me after they had fixed the gas pedal.
I went back to the dealer and spent it today... .bought several itmes including
a few engine and AC air filters, touch-up paints, cargo net, a couple gallons of
Toyota coolant(pink) for my Lexus.... the total, with 9% sales tax , came to
$108. I gave the cashier the $100 gift card and $8 in cash.
I'm wondering if they money is from the dealer or Toyota corporate?
Probably the dealer, because my next-next-door neightbor didn't get one
when she brought her Camry to another Toyota dealer for the gas pedal fix.
For those who haven't brought their vehicle in, perhaps it's a good idea to
call the dealer and see if they're offering the same thing. (public service
announcement from me )

idk but toyota is usually pretty good for doing that. When my scion tC went in for the sunroof recall they sent those metal toy JADA cars out to everyone that had it done. Was a nice little gift being the tC toys werent being sold in stores. It also came with the we are sorry letter.
Mine didn't go in yet so I am hoping for the $100.00, although Peach told me to wait till they come out with a better fix for the problem so I may wait it out a little longer.
Didn't get the pedal fix, but I did get the VVTi Oil line done... no gift card
And I'm also waiting for a better pedal fix... don't want them hacking up my baby... only i can do that... hahaha
Its more than likely a dealer offering. I went for pedal fix for Matrix and brake override for my Camry and nothing.
question for the moderator:
is it okay if I post the name of my Toyota dealer? I just want other members who live in my area to go to this Toyota dealer so they can get the free $100 gift card deal! I mean, free money is as good as cash, right?
I also found out another Toyota dealer is offering free gift certificates as well, but only $25 for owners who bring in their vehicle covered under the gas pedal recall.
if posting of dealer names isn't allowed, I guess the next best thing to do is call a few dealer around the area to find out which one is offering free money.

I dont see any problem with it and its not against forum rules.
Went in for a car wash and when I got back into my car, there was a thermal insulated beverage holder and a apology letter in my cup holder. Have 3 of em now haha!

I don't want the $%^!& gift card I just want them to put the DENSO part in and be done with it. Why hack my car up for nothing ?

Ummmm..you do know that if you get Denso, they shave the bottom of the pedal. If you have CTS, they put the metal shimmy but I'm not sure if they shave the pedal (I assume they would if it has to do with the floor mat recall). If they do shave the CTS as well, regardless of what you get, both are going to get hacked up.
Toyota Corporate gave every dealer $75k to use for goodwill expenditures for customers. They all use it as they see fit..
I had 3 recalls done: GasPedal shave, Oil line and ECM brake overide flash..
No goodwill gesture from my dealer
The biggest problem, I see is that they are not doing anything for current owners, like free service visits etc.
They are spending the advertising and incentive dollars on trying to get new customers. There is going to be a big brand loyalty issue as current Toyota owners start looking for new cars. They are going to remember that nothing was done for them while they owned their Toyota's.

At my local Canadian dealer, I got one of those Olympic Inukshuk crystal display models, an apology card and a free care wash ticket (they couldn't wash that day as it was freezing).
Hey guys, I work at a Toyota dealership here in Canada. In Canada you DONT have to have your pedal cut/shaved. There are 3 options and one of them is to cut it or leave it with the new ecu flash. Hope this clears things up. I forgot what the 3td option was
