Gen5 Where to jack my car up?

Hi guys. I am kind of new to DIY but I've done several things before: changing spark plugs, taking dashboard apart to replace LEDs, etc but right now I need to change the brakes.

It is kind of confusing: manual says that I should use 2 jack "spots" under the front bumper to jack the car up. But I think it would not let me jack high enough to lift tires up.

I have looked where I can place jack on the side of the car near the wheels but it looks like it's all plastic all around and I have no clue where to place the jack... There are some metal spots but they do not look flat. Maybe can someone take a pic for me and show where to place jack? I have floor jack.

Gen 5 camry

Yeah I saw this spots on side of the car for jack. The problem is that I do not have original jack that is made for those spots. I have floor jack with 'round' lifting component. Do you think that thin line would bend if I place jack there?

if your floor jack is has a large enough lifting plate, you should be able to put the jack under the front of the car, to the jacking point on the front crossmember. refer to the top-down view of the car in the image above. if the plate is small, it may be able to fit right in the notches on the side of the car.

idk if those notch do anything but when my OEM jack put in, it seems smaller than the notch. I think those notch just markings to indicate the best spot to jack along that beam.

Go to the Camry forum over at AutomotiveForums.com and download the Toyota factory service manual for the generation 5 Camry. The manuals are stickied there at the top. It will show you the jacking points along with a lot of other usefull information you will need in the future.

I would also recommend going to a salvage yard and picking up an original jack and jack handle for your car. You never know when you might need it.

I found a piece of oak off a pallet and cut it down on my table saw to fit my floor jack pad. I also ripped a 3/16'' slot in the middle of the block so I can use the jack to jack at the side front and back jack points. Works for all jack points on my camry.

Hey guys.. Do what I did, get four hockey pucks and cut a slot in them, and try to find some flat top jackets and then bobs your uncle..

yes a small portion of the pinch weld will bend. I use a floor jack on mine all of the time. It won't hurt anything and I trust my floor jack more than that scissor jack any day. Mountain out of a mole hill.
