i have to add, that when i lock the doors, turn the alarm on and open the door from inside, the alarm doesn't go off.

the ONLY key i have also only works at the drivers door.

If you are hearing the long beep, that means the computer is telling the lock to release. You should hear a metal "click" noise to indicate the solenoid engaged (near the center rear of the trunk).

1. Does the trunk open when you physically pull the lever? If so, it may be a bad release solenoid in the lock assembly. If it is not releasing, the lock itself may be bad. I think the solenoid may be build into the lock itself, so either way, you're SOL.

2. Check if the trunk is in valet lock mode. Use the key to unlock the trunk. The key insertion should be verticle |. If it is horizontal -, then it was in "valet lock mode". The solenoid was engaging, but the lock was just shaking its head thinking "Nice Try!". I don't remember which year they added the trunk lock at the cylinder though~ pretty sure it was in the 2002 and up.

Hopefully that will push you in the right direction.

the trunks lock is vertical, so im guessing it is in valet mode.

now as i said my key only fits on the drivers door, and that's the only one i have. is there a way i can get it out of valet mode without the right key ?

the only way i can open my trunk is from the little pull thing under the drivers seat

thanks for any help

if you can open your trunk from the lever under the driver's seat, your trunk is not in valet mode.

dunno if your key is the valet key though...

Possibly the key cylinder was changed out (are you the original owner?) if it doesn't work in the trunk. If the handle under the seat to open it is working, it sounds like the lock assembly's solenoid is out.
