Gen5 Air Filter Box Screw

I'm trying to locate a screw and washer for my air filter box. I've lost one of the bolts. I tried asking around at my local dealerships if they sold just the screw but they all tell me that they come with the entire top piece of my air box, which cost around $240. I've looked at the screw and it looks unqiue. Should I just go to my local hardware store and just but something with the same dimensions?

I would just bring the one you have to the hardware store and see if you can find a replacement. I cant imagine that they would require such a special screw for an air filter box screw

It looks some what different then a normal screw. It's thinner at the end of the screw. But you're right. I should just head down to the hardware store and find a replacement.

It does have special screws, half of the body of the screws clipped onto the air filter cover.

Do you know where I can get this screw? I tried calling around but they said it come with the entire upper part of the air box. I'm trying to find a place around here or online that just sells the screw by itself.

Sorry NJ, I did do a search on this topic and I wasn't able to find a solution through those searches. I did find an air box thread for a Gen 5 which was posted about two years ago. I hoping to start a new thread and see if anything has changed since that last post.

As far as I remember the bolt head is 10 mm. So the threas would be M6. Try to buy M6 bolt and see it fits.

Good luck,

Sam

there is not even a separate part number for it, so yeah... you're better off checking the junkyards.

alternatively, check out www.mcmaster.com... they have every type of bolt, nut, and screw that you can think of. you might find a similar or equivalent bolt

Thanks Sam! I'm going to use those measurements to get a replacement. I'm going to try the junk yard first.
