Dead moth in taillight...help...

There is a dead moth inside of the passenger side taillight on my 07 camry. I have no clue how it got in there, but it seems like it has been in there quite sometime.

It appears that there is another lens inside of the taillight, and in order to get this moth out I am going to have to bake the light and separate the outer lens from the housing.

Is this correct? Anyone have any experience in baking these lights to separate the housings?

I would just leave it until the moth decomposes and goes to moth heaven. Shouldn't take too long.

No can do on the baking... tail lights are glued together... if the moth is inbetween the two lenses, see if there's a crack or opening somewhere

You'll definitely have to take apart the housing to get rid of it.

Just make sure to reseal them well with RTV clear silicone sealant and you should be good to go .

If its stuck, use a pencil or a stick to get it off and than shake it out.

Am I the only one wondering how it got in there in the first place?

Obviously if it got in without baking you can get it out. The only logical way is do what njerald said, try to get it out through the bulb hole. Did you change a brake bulb at some point?

The stock taillights have bigger bulb openings compare to LED aftermarket lights (different design). Maybe that's how it got in.

If you're gonna take it apart, might as well get LED taillights.

IDK Just got the car and while cleaning it up noticed the moth was in there. It did clean up nicely though.

It looks like there is a dual layer lens. I will mess with it this weekend. Maybe I can avoid pulling the light out.
