5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
My car has 38,000 miles on it and the check engine light came on with the P0138 code. After going into Toyota they said I need to replace 2 O2 Sensors, the exhaust manifold, and the exhaust gaskets for a total of $1700. After researching and talking to a friend he said I should just go to autozone and replace the O2 sensor which failed due to high voltage which is behind the catalytic converter and see if that works. Toyota warns that I need to replace everything and by just replacing the one sensor it will fry again and be a waste.
Does anyone have any guidance or pictures on how to replace the O2 sensor behind the Cat Converter or should I just do what the dealership is recommending.
Emission control and emission related parts are covered for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles of vehicle use;
Specified major emission control components are covered for the first 8 years or 80,000 miles of vehicle use.
Reading from my 2008 Camry warranty manual
He is out of coverage for the 2 year/ 24,000 mile warranty..
Covered items for 8y/80,000 miles are:
engine control module
catalytic converter and protector
data link connector
if he was in California it would extend the 2y/24000 federal to 3years/50,000 miles and be covered
7year/70000 for exhaust front pipe camry and exhaust manifold and many more parts not covered by federal...
Since op is in colorado, interesting to see if colorado has a more comprehensive warranty like California

I don't what you are trying to point out but it has nothing to do with this thread..........you are late to the party.
This is a Toyota Camry. It appears you don't have a Toyota Warranty book.

You better go back to school for reading comprehension..............learn the difference between a "Defect" and "Performance".

Hey brother,
You know arguing with NJ is like pissing into the wind? Its just gonna get you all wet and smelly
Happy driving all.
EDIT: oh and for the short time I have been around. I have noticed one thing, as annoying as NJ can be he actually has very good information most of the time.
Weather it a performance warranty or a defect, the problem he has would still be covered in my state of California. I do not have the Colorado information.
