2003 Camry LE Rear Defogger

Typically when it rains, I always keep the rear defogger on to eventually elimate the rain drops. However, lately the rear window has not been doing a great job of eliminating the rain drops. For example, a friend of mine has a late model Hyundai Sonata and if there are rain drops on the rear window, after just 2 minutes of the rear defogger being on, it creates a "melting effect" and the rain is gone within a 6-7 minute timeframe. Don't get me wrong because any time theres ice or snow on the window and the defogger is on, after about 10 minutes, its ready to be brushed away as opposed to scraped. Obviously its working because if I put my hand on the window, it is nice and toasty.

Is there any kind of mod I can do to make sure that the window would stay dry?

Also, what do you notice about your rear defoggers when it rains, a melting effect, a slow drying effect, etc...

try cleaning the rear windshield... a buildup of film will reduce the effectiveness of the defogger.

don't think there really is any mod that you can do... i'd just keep it clean, and apply rain-x every once in awhile

Thanks for the suggestion, I will try that. I suppose every model's system is wired differently.

I will definitely try the Rain-X as the repelling effect should assist.

rear defrrost

Try AQUAPEL, better then rain x, you can find it on ebay for 4-5 dollars an applicator and it lasts about 6 months. It starts working at about 30 mph with a light mist on windshield and i hardly ever use my wipers. I've also seen it at Harbor Freight Stores, if you have one in our area.
