5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am looking into switching my 03 Camry LE console (if I'm saying it correctly - open area beneath the dashboard-in front of the shifter).
As we all know, currently in the Gen5 there is just an open area there. In the Gen5.5, there is a door to hide your items.
That entire piece unclips and is easily removable once you remove the trim by the shifter, and also the cigarette plug.
I almost feel like Toyota may have kept the same dimensions for that piece in the Gen5.5 because of the same exact location as the Gen5.
i'd almost say the dimensions are probably exactly the same... nothing changed too much interior wise between gen 5 and gen 5.5.
as long as the clip/attachment points are the same, i'd go for it. i will be redoing some LED mods tomorrow, i can take pictures of the back of the center console.

From years of experience....those consoles will switch out with no problem. They go together exactly the same way. One has a door and the other doesn't. End of story
Aah, excellent. Then I am all set. I just like the idea of being able to hide your contents instead of leaving them out and exposed.
The only thing now is trying to find these whether on ebay or car-parts.com
I'm also looking for a new overheard sunglass holder as the spring on my broke, and also for a new cup holder as the flip out cup reinforcer broke as well.
I don't know the exact name of these parts.
Any idea how I can find these on either car-parts.com, or ebay?
The sunglass holder is just that or...over head console. The cup holder well, you know...cup holder. The cup holder is a seperate piece from the shifter garnish. However, you'll probably find it all together used before you find it by itself.

Thanks alot. I couldn't find it on car-parts.com so I will keep trying on ebay.
I recently just took the entire console apart to get a few things that fell inside and when I unscrewed the cup holder from the actual console/shifter cover, I saw plenty of sugar in there -- so it wouldn't be a problem to re-attach it.
Perhaps I will try checking at a junk yard.
Now for the sunglass visor assembly, I'm assuming it just connected with clips and can probably be removed with your bare fingers. I suppose there are just a few wires connected for the map lights and sunroof (mine doesn't have homelink).

yes, just a few clips... and you could probably pry it out with your fingers, but you'd have a much easier time using a taped up screwdriver. yup just one connector for the map lights, and i suppose one for the sunroof as well (i don't have one).

one more pic for good measure... shows where the console clips in:
wow... Thanks for the pic.
Uh oh...
I think my 03 LE clip style is different then your 05. I'm not 100% positive but like I said, I had just taken it apart recently and I don't think it looked like yours.
