Hey, Forum! New Member Here; Some Questions Regarding My '08 SE's JBL System...
Hey, Toyota Enthusiasts!
First time poster here, looking forward to getting to know all of you.
If this is not the correct section of the Forum to post this (perhaps it may be better in the Audio & Electronics area), please forgive me; I'll ask moderators to move it where approrpriate...
My '08 Camry SE V6 was ordered with the JBL system/in dash changer, and every once in a while, the radio won't work after playing a CD; it's very strange, and I never experienced it until my wife told me it had happened to her before when driving it...she specifically detailed the fact that if she went quickly from CD to radio, sometimes the tuner simply wouldn't work, and she needed to play a CD again and quickly switch to radio.
The same thing happened to me when I had the car the other day, and she was in the passenger seat and reached over to re-play a CD for a moment and quickly change to the tuner, when the radio then came to life. But before this, I couldn't make the radio work on ANY station; it was strange.
Have any of you with the JBL option/system encountered this? Should I bring this up to my dealer when I bring her in for the next checkup, which should be soon?
I would just change it out with a nice double din dvd player and call it a day. My factory radio did kind of the same thing. When I changed to CD, sometimes the display screen would be missing some letters or numbers and it would freeze from time to time. I would have to turn the car off to get it to work again or actually go as far as disconnecting the battery. I got fed up with it and just got a double din radio and a five channel amp. Sounds a whole lot better too. Good luck with the problem.

Thank you, Psyche.
I don't really want to change out my JBL system, but I will continue to keep an eye on the problem to see if it continues.
For 1k, you could swap out your headunit and get a nice component set that will sound better than JBL.
LOL -- didn't you read my original post where I mentioned "my wife"? No, that's not a picture of me...sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a dude...
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not looking to spend anything on an aftermarket system for this car; just want to get a handle on what's going on with the JBL system now.
i had the same issue before when i had my 6 disc. never really seen it as much of a problem, id just cycle back through the aux,cd,radio and it'd work fine

Thanks, Prolip!
That makes me feel a little better that it may just be a "Toyota/JBL thing" rather than something wrong with my specific unit; I wanted to know if others may possibly have had the same occurances with the JBL system, and you're claiming you had the same issue.
I'm wondering why the head unit does this, though...I mean, why should the radio stations/tuner go dead and then come back on after cycling through some inputs?

LOL. Sorry, I just scanned through your post.
Good luck at the dealer with your problem / fixes.

There is no need for the OP to spend additional money. The JBL is a perfectly good sounding system which sounds better than the audio systems offered on some premium vehicles.
I have never encountered this kind of problem with my head unit and you should see the dealer since you're obviously under warranty.
