TRD Air Filter for Gen 6.5 SE

I am posting this in the hopes it will save others from the same headache:

Toyota has 2 part numbers listed for the 2010 Camry for the TRD high-flow air filter:
  • PTR05-33070
  • PTR05-00000-16

EDIT: I am trying to get a filter for my i4.

The second number is the v6 air filter and came the closest to fitting. The first number is presumably the i4 filter but was no where near the right size or shape. I tried both filters in my `10 SE and neither one fit. Luckily the dealer took both back at no cost to me!

K&N appears to make a working filter:

http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?Prod=33-2370

I have not purchased the K&N yet but from the picture it looks correct.

Anyway, don't bother ordering either of the TRD filters if you own a 2010 SE.

I hope this helps.

I'm guessing you have a V6?

I wouldn't think they would change intake designs mid model... maybe they're both for the i4? remember the i4 changed engines during the mid model refresh

Wow...I'm REALLY sorry I forgot to mention this is all concerning the SE i4. That was really stupid of me...serious brain fart

I have no idea if the v6 filter works in the v6 or not.

So to (try) and be clear: neither TRD air filter fits the 2010 SE i4.

Also note: I don't think the engine changed, did it? I know the exhaust is different and, based on this experience, I suspect the intake is different as well. But I was under the impression that it's the same i4 as the LE, just not so de-tuned.

If it is a whole different motor I suppose that would make more sense.

Thanks!

Thumbs up

The K&N drop-in has always been my first upgrade driving off the lot. The TRD filters are overpriced and it's relatively difficult to get the filter 'recharge' kit (usually stocked at the larger PDCs, which ship to the local one before getting to the dealer).

The 4-cyl in the 2010 did change to the 2.5L but Toyota's Online Accessory Catalog (internal use) usually has a few minor errors that take some time to iron out. Since not many dealers order Camry TRD filters, it has probably not been reported for edit yet.

Gen6 K&N vs. TRD

They are the exact same thing. One is just more over priced then the other. And the recharge kit is the same as the trd n K&N. Take it from me I've worked for K&N since 2005... Also I'm selling my K&N filter for 2007-2011 Camry i4 any model for $20 it only has 150-200 miles on it... I can ship if you pay shipping.

To be honest I would have to see how much it would cost on the shipping... Where do you live?

The 2.4 and the 2.5 definitely have different air boxes. K&N makes a filter for the v6 and both i4's. I have tried to fit the the 2.4 filter to my 2.5 engine and it did not fit. The correct filter for the 2.5 is p/n 33-2370.

I have the K&N filter in my 2011 SE I4, but you have to be careful cause like it was said, 2007-2009 filters won't fit the 2010-2011's.

Once again I work for K&N and I make these filters and it is the same filter. Same part number and all...

Totally wrong. The TRD filter is made by AFE and is much more robust than the flimsy K&N. I've used K&N for years but there is a reason why the AFE made TRD filter is more money. It won't flow any better than the K&N but the outer flange of the TRD filter won't rip like I've had K&N filters do. You can use any recharge kit from any oil/cotton type air filter.

Even the autozone p/n lookup states two part numbers for the two i4 engines. I test fitted both, the 2.4 is different from the 2.5 filter, I reassure you.
