Thumbs up New (Used) 2008 Camry XLE V6 Owner

Hi all I just purchased a 2008 Camry XLE V6 White with only 30000 on the Odometer. First off I love the car. Coming from 1 2000 Echo with 207000 (Many more left if I had not crashed it) this is a major upgrade. This car has gobs of power and runs smooth. I am looking to add Borla exhaust and KN filter. I would really like some input on these two mods as well as any issues I might not know about. Thanks for letting me in and here is to many happy posts.

to the nation!

Let me move your thread over to the Camry forum so the folks there can offer suggestions about the exhaust and air filter, but you should also use the forum's search tool to look for past threads about those subjects. Any questions, just ask me or one of the other moderators....

welcome. mods sound good. im personally a fan more of the trd exhaust and not the borla. should look into other things like blacking out the headlights, painting the emblems, and a white se grille. will look great with those 3 things.

under all my mods im same car but a 09.

Finally another former Echo owner!

I moved from a 2005 Echo Hatchback to a new 07 SE V6. The power and space differences are amazing, aren't they?

Not to mention the highway stability. Remember how the Echo would be easily blown around by the wind at 100 and above?

I'm probably crazy but I feel like my Camry gets pushed around by the wind around 75ish

I felt it when I was on stock suspension and wheels.

Now lowered with wider tires, wind doesn't move it a bit, and 120+ is just fine (do not attempt this ... often... heh).

Well, if it's a really windy day, any car will get pushed around - especially larger surface vehicles like SUV, vans and even small, but tall hatchbacks (e.g. Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris).

I've driven all sorts of vehicles from 26-foot trucks down to the little Smart car. I can tell you that the Camry is an extremely stable vehicle. It's a very long car, it sits low and it's got a wide stance. This is a perfect recipe for stability against wind and against spinning out.

Of course, if you ever try driving one of those German 4500-5000lb "land barges" such as the Audi A8L, Benz S-Class or BMW 7, you will feel the "perfection" of high speed cruising. But for us mainstream people...the Camry cuts it close to perfect.

Heh, the Camry actually by all accounts is the stubbiest and lightest car of the mid-size. I think width wise it's about average. The Accord, Fusion, 6 etc are longer and wider, but they are all taller and have fugly profiles.

Stock Camry sits extremely high so that's what accounts for the buffetting around people experience at 75mph.

Yazovets I will say one thing that Echo was a tank. I had 207000 miles on it and it still ran like a swiss watch until the accident. As for the space there is no comparison between it and the Camry. People used to laugh at me with the Echo. I used to laugh back when I drove past gas stations and they could not, LOL. I am looking forward to many years with this car.

The Echo is a great car for the track. A guy iknow has one and tracks it, out runs M3's IS-F's etc (in the corners) because it handles so well.

I'll tell you exactly why the Echo is indeed a tank. It's because they were assembled in Japan.

I mean no disrespect to American labor - both cars in my family are made in the US (one is a Toyota, the other Benz).

However, like you I had a completely trouble-free Echo which I never EVER took for warranty service. The other reason is because the Echo was such a simply-engineered vehicle. It was made from fewer parts and many "features" were manual (such as the windows).

Here's what my old car was (the red one):
