2010 SE V6 - TRD Springs with SE shocks or Tokico?
Hi guys,
My wheels are almost here, so I am gathering my suspension parts so everything can be done at once. I am considering the TRD springs, but was considering a strut upgrade too. I know the SE shocks are already stiffer than the LE/XLE version. I wanted to see what the SE owners have been doing- keep the SE shocks or go with Tokico.
Also, a preview of what is 3 weeks away (lug nuts are already on my desk):

The original SE struts/shocks are KYB GR2's which dampens the ride well. I suggest keeping the SE struts/shocks and look at H&R or Tein for lowering springs. They will give you an even looking drop.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Tons of info to sort through. Also, I already tried a search, but most of the thread titles are too ambiguous, lol.

I'd rock coils again, but I don't plan to slam the car. My driveway is quite steep and the overhangs on the Camry are a bit long. Any recommendations for a set that has upper and lower adjusts ? Fender gap doesn't bug me =P It's just a car. I just happen to have somewhat expensive tastes.

They are the same thing in different packages. Struts are simply shocks built into a housing with the lower spring seat. The older Toyotas (80s Celica) had a shock that can be replaced while the strut housing was reused. Only if it was still the same..... use the OEM strut "housing" while replacing the shock cartridge with the desired dampening... modding would be so much cheaper.

Pricing isn't really an issue. I just want to have a quality system without the same issues I had w/ my previous Tein (not the coilovers themselves, but the related issues on the car relating to noise).

i have megans and they are nice and quiet. if u turn off the ac and music yes u can sort of hear the compression though its maybe 5 db more noise if that then the stock suspension.
and with coils u can go as low or high as u want. i live in jersey and we have some of the worst roads here. even redline_me from CT says the roads are bad here. both of us have coilovers and drive with them daily no problem. mine have a lower spring rate front and rear so the ride is real nice on them. they are about as harsh as the tein plus ur oem se struts are. my friend has trds with se struts and swears all day long his ride is worse than mine.
Peer pressure pushing me... toward the coils... lol
I've had the Tein SS before and loved them... but I had a 4-cyl Solara and the spring rates were for a V6. The Gen6 Camry is the other way for me... I have the V6 but the spring rates were dev'd on the 4-cyl.
Recommendations?

there members have those Tein spring for V6 and look great . go for it
just go for the coils because otherwise u will regret not getting them. if u go coils u can go as low or high as u want. megans have great spring rate. 6 front i believe and 4 rear. if u were closer i would let u test drive.
I have the tein s-tech's and love them. Click my pic and the bottom and see, pg 1 and pg 3's got newer pics. Besides getting coils, they are the best IMO. and in those pics are only a week or 2 of putting them in, they have settled more since then.
