I bought a TRD gear knob a few days ago and i have to say its awesome. A bit expensive but it looks and feels awesome its about a quater of the weight of the orignal one. The only problem I have is that the shift boot slides down and theres a big gap between the knob and the boot has any one got any ideas on how to stop it from slipping without having to pull out all the centre console ?
^ okay so my diagram using texts above didnt work out too well ... but im sure u know what i mean .. if not i can take a pic of u want...anyways get something like this maybe ?
^ no clue on the boot of the gen5, but it looks like the base of the shifter where the leather is can lift up? i think. And those drill bit collars can be found at hardware stores.
its just an idea, not sure if u can even find a size that big, or if it will even work .. but it should.
I was thinking zip tie, a lot of civic guys do that, but you see where you have the ring at the top, the civics have a bit of leather underneath sticking out, so the guys zip tie the excess leather , im not sure if yours has it. But with a zip tie, its very cheap and if it doesnt work out its easily removable... give it a shot, im not sure if its going to slide though. But the metal adjustable clamps with the screw could work.
is the base of the boot one big piece connecting the cup holders and the ebrake handle cut out? It should be held on by just clips ... try searching for the removal. I know hte gen6 is just clips and you just pop it off. Not sure about the gen5, havent really opened it up.
