5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I had my pioneer Nav stolen last week. They obviously had tools as they broke my rear quarter window and unscrewed the ISO mount brackets in the dash. It just sucks vacuuming all the glass from the seats.
Do they make tamper proof bolts that you can mount your radio in with so the thieves cant unscrew them with standard tools?
Also, what size and length are the screws that mount the Gen 5 radio brackets in the car? all my hardware was taken. I had to buy new brackets from the dealer special order.
Been driving myself crazy trying to get everything back to normal...

That sucks to hear... it doesn't matter what you use... if you're motivated enough, you'll take what you want... locks and special screws will only slow down the process, not prevent it
sound like the thief knew exactly how to remove your nav. Be glad it's not worse. Put back your OEM radio and stick with it.. get a portable GPS.
Check out camrystuff.com for hardware and.... 'stuff'. those pdf should also say tools u can use. Another place u can check is crutchfield.. they also have instructions to remove your radio which also have what tool u need.
i think some nav do have anti thief. When it lost power completely it ask for a passcode.

That doesn't mean they'll return it. Buyers will never know that it needs a passcode to unlock.
Sorry to hear that dude. I'm always so jumpy when i'm home and hear alarms going off or voices late at night. I park my car right in front of my house so i can see it from my bedroom window.
Sorry to hear that.
I hate people like these.F- idiots.
Try to get alarm with touch/break sensor, it should scare them away if they’ll try to break glass, or someone hit your car.

nope, but it's a peace of mind knowing it won't work for that mother f too.
Buyer will know when they try to install it, and the owner manual will show them how to set it. Most ppl don't unplug their battery, so... it'll work just fine on a daily bases.

it won't work for the buyer either. without the pass code they're screwed..i didn't even set mine up because i don't care if the future buyer can use it...my insurance will pay for it, so it is what it is you know..
to the OP, that sucks...i know i'm super paranoid about mine...
get a nice alarm and also swith up the bolts, possibly 4 different kinds.
This is kinda messed up but works, I read a while ago people used to weld razor blades to the radio so if a theif was to yank out the radio they would cut up their hands pretty good. not sure if you want to go that far but that would work
