D2 coilover suspension review

Gday fellas, as some of you know ive recently gotten d2 coilovers on the toycam and heres my review

Ride comfort; Even on the softest settings, the ride is still stiff. Very stiff actually where now i could feel bumps on the road that i never new ever existed. I honestly cant really tell the difference in ride comfort between the softest and hardest damper settings. Im not sure if its just my end of town which have shat roads but at this point of time im highly considering whether i wanna look like a sexy kent on the roads and sacrifice ride comfort or look like a oright looking kent on the roads and have very decent ride comfort

Like i said, im a n0ob with this all. So im not sure if changing the actual coilspring on this unit will make a difference

Adjustments; Like all adjustments on coilovers, its really easy to adjust. Even with the n0obz like myself can figure out how to adjust the damper and height settings by watching a couple of youtube vids and doing a google search for a couple of minutes

Recommendations; If your roads are generally bumpy, i wouldnt recommend you get these coilovers. However, if you have money issues and you cant afford the more expensive coilovers, i recommend you get these as i guess its true what they say, you get what you pay for.

IMO, these are not for me. the camry is a big family car so most likely you'll be lugging around your parents, your mates or your kids so i dont recommend these coilovers as especially with your parents, they will complain..ALOT. Im looking now into a better set of coilovers that would suit my needs so therefore, sometime down the track, I will be on the prowl for new coilovers (any suggestions?)

Anyway, here is a flick of the coilovers and what it looks like on my ride;

i also have d2s, and will attest to their stiffness, but i like it.

keep in mind, if your coilovers were as soft and forgiving as your oem springs at that low of a height, you would rub on every bump. you can't be stiff and soft at the same time. hehehe

Any coil over will be stiff. The only difference will be the spring rates. Yours are probably 6 kg front and 4 kg back just like the Megans. Mine are 10 kg front and 8 kg back, now that's stiff springs. I would say just stick with them.

That is true. But I've heard people with coilovers who have better than stock comfort.

Yeah most def im going to stick with these for awhile, see how i go. Combination of 19s and stiff coilovers will obviously result in me feeling every bump. D2 coilovers are alright, honestly not a fan but im loving the drop (Y)

Good value for money aswell. But i thought id just put it out there for future d2 owners that the ride is stiff

If your getting coilovers you are basicly making the camry a sportier car not a family car it is very hard to stay with both. BTW car looks good I would keep them .....Coilovers are not meant to keep comfort no matter how expensive or good they are

i think u have a stiff spring rate. yes coils will be stiffer but it all depends on what spring rate u have and how the struts are built. the best coilovers of course will be teins.

i have megans with 6 front and 4 rear and they arent bad at all. ross(redline) drove on them with me and they were pretty good for coils. the d2 u prob just have to get different springs and they will be better. also make sure they inspect them because maybe the struts are slowly going so thats why the ride is stiff. it should be a difference going from mega soft to mega stiff. i know i feel it on my megans.

maybe for the gen6 camry, but certainly not in general..in fact, the Tein SS for the camry don't have pillowball mounts if i'm not mistaken.

That is true, however i cant seem to tell the difference really between the stiff settings and the softest settings. Ive did previous research on these coilovers and apparently people seem to say that these coilovers are more stiffer than other coilovers. But for now, i will keep the coilovers on

Yeah im considering changing the actual springs on these if i can. How would i go about getting different springs? But i will make a note of that to inspect the struts, thanks for that mate But like i said, for now i will keep it how it is. Play with the settings abit and maybe adjust the camber slightly in the rear as i keep rubbing on the inner guards on bumps

from my buddies who have previously ran Tein SS, i heard that its super soft and it sucks. They've all switched over to buddyclub, megans, or other brands.

Great review btw. Thanks for the contribution

Do you have any spring preload on the coilovers to begin with? I believe they should just be set at a snug setting for the spring without any preload or tensioning, that way you can just adjust dampening seperately and should have a better ride. I know some people increase spring preload as a way to lower the car slightly as well as decrease the travel of the spring, which increases stiffness pretty much.
