5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
We're going to pick up our 2009 Camry SE with 30K miles from a used car dealer today. I have been reading this forum for it already and would like to upgrade the factory stereo to EONON E1052 (or other DVD players if you have better suggestions). I am wondering whether or not the additional cost and effort for installation is worth the GPS box that EONON offers.
Thanks,
Mohammad

I also have a 2007 LE, with the Non JBL system. I had the EONON E1052 and it was an upgrade from the factory deck but not worth the money. I since upgraded to a Pioneer DVD deck and have an external GPS Unit. I would stay away from EONON. My setup is Pioneer AVH4100DVD, Alpine 12" Sub in a sealed enclosure, with Alpine 6x9s all the way around, and I am loving it, the alpine speakers give me the clarity I need, and the sub provides the boom. Perfect setup if you ask me!
No problem! The toughest part of the install was hooking up and programming the PAC SWI-PS, to keep use of the steering wheel controls. It requires some precise soldering! I have pics and will post them tomorrow. Although you need a Dash Kit, the one I used was made by Metra and only cost me about $25 CDN, it matches the gray dash perfectly!

Thank you for posting the insightful pictures. I realized that this type of non-trivial installation is not my cup of tea. On the other hand, we have just paid 16K for the car and might as well stick to stock radio until later.
Thanks again,
Mohamamd

Haha, yea i know it looks bad, but hey it was -12 Celcius outside and the heat shrink tubing covered it up...so no worries!

It does look empty, at first I thought of putting something on the sides, but there is not much room to play with on the backside...ie to install something. I may do something in the future! Right now, I am getting used to it!

No problem! Although it took a while to install, I can say it was well worth the effort!
