USA Toyota Platinum extended warranty(VSA), what's NOT covered that I should be aware of?

yes, I realize there are several other threads talking about Toyota's extended
warranty plan(VSA, or Vehicle Service Agreement)... but most of them talk
about the cost of the plan, and the pros & cons of whether the plan is worth it.

My question is limited to the following:

I will be purchasing the 8yr/100k Platinum(covering almost everything)
plan for my Camry for sure. I have researched this issue as much as I could,
either here or on other websites.

I downloaded the coverage brochure fom Toyota's own website and read it
from cover to cover. It pretty clearly spells out what is covered. However,
it doesn't really tell me what isn't covered. The brochure obviously says
anything not listed is non-covered.....

...but what other components are likely to suffer a defect/failure and fall
into the non-covered category? Obviously, I wouldn't expect them to
cover items caused by normal wear&tear, or damage from accident/fire/theft/
vandalism, or acts of god/nature, or war/terrorism...

for example, the brochure does say the heater core is covered.... but the heater
hoses are not. let's say the heater hose is leaking and it's located behind the
dash....sounds like a pretty simple job, but if it require the removal of the entire
dash(like on my Lexus), the it's probably going to cost $$$... and not covered?

Thanks for any info!

I'm not entirely sure on this since I haven't read the warranty you're referring to. However, based on my previous extended warranty woes the situation you describe with the heater hoses would mean you foot the bill for everything related to the repair.

Also, the thing that bit me hard core - catalytic converters are not covered (at least by the warranty I had) and part of the pre-cat could very well have gotten sucked back into the engine (seems to be a not common, but not entirely unheard of situation with my previous vehicle) which would score the cylinder walls and essentially cause irreparable damage to the engine. Since a non-covered part damaged a covered part the entire thing wouldn't be covered. I chose to dump the car before I had the engine torn down to find out if this was truly the problem or not.

All he did was copy and paste from the Toyota page. The OP could have read the same thing without starting a new thread.
