Gen6 2007 Camry I4 Clicking Noise @wheel in hard left turn

When making a hard left turn a clicking noise is heard coming from the left front wheel area. Otherwise rides great! It's not repeatable when driving the same course, with same hard left turns? No visible damage to the CV joint or axle, no evidence of grease or damage to any components in the wheel assembly. Dealer wants $1200 for CV replacement, second mechanic found nothing wrong. Any ideas?

if only when turns its the cv joint, just becuase the boot isnt broken doesnt mean the axle isnt. but 1200 is alot for just one axle!!!!

It's probably the cv joint, but you usually hear the clicking sounds on the opposite side when making turns. That is, when making a left turn, the clicking should come from the right side, if that right cv joint is defective. As you make a left turn most of the weight is transferred to the right side. On a right turn the weight is transferred to the left side and that cv joint will click, if it is defective.

It should run around $250 to have a shop replace the entire axle, including the cv joint, with a reuilt one. That is the common method for replacing a defective cv joint today. That $1200 price is way out of line.

It can either be CV joint or intermediate driveshaft. And listen to njerald and take advantage of the extra $$ you paid for your platinum warranty.
