Gen5 Bent rim, need opinions

So a couple days ago, I hit a NASTY pothole going about 35mph and both drivers-side rims hit it. There is a noticeable bend in the front rim but no visible damage to the rear. Here is a crappy phone pic of the front rim. It's more noticeable in person.

Discount Tire(where I purchased the rims) said that they will replace the rim for $100, and it actually sounds like a good deal seeing as how the rims alone are $130 each. My question is should I pay to replace it? Or can I get it fixed? Also, could it have damaged the radials in my tire? The car currently drives fine and I haven't noticed any shimmying or pulling.

I'm just really pissed at the whole situation considering the rims and tires are less than 6 months old, and right now I'm really thinking I'll just get the rim replaced, but I wanted to come to you guys for some input.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good deal. I'd go for it.

A bent wheel is not good. It will wear that tire prematurely and when you go get another tire most tire companies won't install a tire on a bent rim. Having it repaired would cost that much or more. They will be able to make sure the tire is OK when they dismount it.

100 bucks down the drain... yeah. But things like this happen.

I'd get the new rim for $100. That's a good deal! As far as the tire goes, I suspect it may be okay. But if there is/was a belt separation, I would think you would notice a thumping sound at certain speeds.

Think about it, in order for the rim to be bent the tire had to compress all the way. Is it damaged? who knows and you won't always see the problem right away, could take months. I agree once it's off take a look at it , if you decide to put it back on i would inspect that tire weekly, for a while then monthly. Is the cost of tire worth the risk? and no, i would replace rim.

Just curious, but what size tire were you running when this happened?

I agree with replacing the rim!

Thanks for the replies guys.

I have made up my mind and I'm going to take it in tomorrow to get the rim replaced and the tire inspected. I happen to have insurance on the tires so if they are damaged at all by curbs/potholes, they are replaced at no charge to me.

And the tire size is 235/45/17

Replace the rim. If you have it repaired, it will run close to the cost of a new rim anyway.
