Brakes warranty after 36k?

Noticed a few weeks ago that the brakes on my wife's Gen6 Camry were pulsating. In my experience, it most likely an issue with the rotors. I read a service bulletin somewhere about it as well. The car is at 40k miles now, has anybody successfully been able to have the dealer replace the 'defective' rotors under warranty past the official warranty period?

I don't think so, the TSB covers only until 36K miles. I would have a shop resurface the rotors and replace with better pads.

Thought so. I'll look into resurfacing. The oem rotors seem cheap enough that it may not be worth it. Any recommendation on a good (less dusty) pad?

Don't 'resurface' or turn the rotors, just replace them.

I love Toyota's in general, but damn they have shitty OEM rotors. In 5 Toyotas that me and/or my family has owned all have needed new rotors at around 40k. I would consider this normal.

Put some raybestos AT rotors on there and consider it a well needed upgrade.

Talk to your service writer and see if you can get "goodwill" warranty. Then call Toyota's 1-800 line and see if there's anything they can do to keep you happy.

If those don't work, then looks like Raybestos Advanced Technology rotors and Akebono ProAct ceramics are your best bet right now.
