Gen6 Front Axle Spindle nut?

I've got to replace the front wheel bearings on my '07 Camry LE and I ran into a problem right off the back! It's the Axle Spindle nut!!

The nut looks to be crimped or a punch was used to dent the lip to hold it on the spindle. My question is how do I get it off? Might it be as easy as taking a punch or even a nail to take the dent out?

Why does Toyota have to make it so damn hard? Not only did I have to find a 12point 30mm socket, but now I've got to find a way to get the old nut off!! What ever happened to the standard 6 pt nut with a cover and cotter pin?

BTW, for those that have done a bearing replacement, is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Thanks!!

Have you looked at:

The stake in the nut helps to keep it in place. The older cotter pin was a better way, but more expensive to assembly at the factory. Time is money for the manufacturers. If you see the link below, it's no stranger to other manufacturers.

Things will be easier if you use a HubTamer like:
http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1996133

However, many autoparts stores will rent or loan free the following:
http://www.harborfreight.com/fwd-fro...ers-45210.html

You'll have to remove the hub yourself. Which in many cases isn't hard with a wooden dowel of the correct size and a good "persuasion" from the engine side out.

Thanks guys!! I've already got the hub tool and the Camrystuff site is handy!

From the Camrystuff site, it says to use tool SST 09930-00010 to punch the lip of the spindle nut up. Anyone know if I can just use a punch or is this tool special in someway?

Thanks!

What do you guys think about this how to? It's an older Toy, so it doesn't talk about the goofy axle nut or the abs sensor, but I think it pretty much explains how it's done.

Are you sure its a 32mm socket?

I just went to auto zone today and had to buy a 33mm to fit mine.
