5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was wondering if someone can help me with this problem. First, I changed the spark plug and found out that there was oil on the spark plug. The customer service rep at Autozone told me that I need to replace the VALVE COVER GASKET. I replaced the gasket and the problem was solved.
I went out of town and the engine is shaky. I took the car to Firestone to do a check up and they said that they have cleaned the throttle cable & throttle body along with the air filter. It stops shaky for a week now.
Two days ago....it started to shake again. I have check the spark plug and there is nothing wrong. I have checked the battery and nothing is wrong. The air filter I have changed it recently. I don't know what the problem is. If there is anyone out there who have the same situation and have found a solution to this problem. Please..Please...Please...let me know.
One more thing...do i need to adjust the idle to higher because if I gas it a little it would stop shaky. please let me know.

does your car just vibrate alot at idle? or are your rpms not stable at idle?
also firestone cleaned your throttle cable?
what happen is that when it is a cold fresh start...everything would be fine. But when the the rpm stables up...the engine shakes. it shakes like there's not enough volt or not enough fuel. The rpm would be stable, but engine shakes. I checked the air filter....it's in "okay" condition. I checked the MAF sensor...and it's fine. I have checked the spark plug and spark plug wire....and nothing is wrong. I'm thinking about putting a new battery this weekend...but not sure yet. please let me know if u have any suggestion before I go out and buy me a new battery.

Battery has nothing to do with shaking. Fireston could have messed your throttle body. Ask them to check it out.

I was just thinking if your rpms are stable that maybe it is a mount or dampner gone bad, after owning a few lex's i think the 2azfe viberates alot, i was wondering if maybe you had a bad motor or transmission mount..
if it was something to do with your engine having a bad idle i would think your rpms wouldn't hold steady if the car felt like it wasn't getting enough fuel or spark at idle..

too many more lex's to list! now onto my first Toyota
I found out what the problem was....it's not the throttle body or loose vaccum tube. It's the alternator. One of my friends, who loves to work on cars, said that for me to start up the car and leave it on. He also said that let sit starting for 5 to 10 min. After when that was done...he told me to take off the positive wire on the battery. After awhile, the engine died. He told me that this is one of the symptom of having a bad alternator. He also told me that the alternator is NOT bad enough till the point where it will start to drain out the battery, but, on the safe side, for me to unhooked the positive wire until I have purchase a new alternator. Thanks for all the reply.

When you purchase a new alternator you may also buy a new ECU, since you probably killed it when you removed the cable off the battery.
When you want to check your charging system go to Autozone or other automotive store. They will check it for free.
Good luck buying new parts. Our economy will appreciate it!
