Without researching I believe that both engines in 02 were chain driven. If correct, then replace the pump when the bearing fails and gets noisy, or when it begins to leak. If you are planning a long trip this summer, then preventative maintenance is fine and replace it. If the car is a daily driver and you don't go too far, then wait until it is a problem. At 100k miles, there are a number of things that need to be looked at, and the water pump is just one of them.

I'd do it preventatively. Do the radiator hoses and thermostat while at it. Aisin WPT801 is the OEM pump, $58.79+shipping on rockauto.com. They don't have a picture but Airtex does:

Thermostat, also need a new gasket:

Since they need to take of the drive belt, put new ones back on.

i have a 2003 Camry V6 with 70000kim. thought the car needed a big service, like timing belt, water pump, spark plugs etc etc.

List of recommended service for 72 months/ 96000km
-timing belt
-spark plugs
-maintenance service
-fuel system
-coolant d/f
-ATF d/f

called into my local dealership for a price quote/ questions.

given the car's mileage, the service guy said only timing belt needs to be done.

the water pump on newer cars, year 00+, the water pump tend to last 2 timing belts, compare to 90's cars where water pump needs to be changed along with timing belt.

spark plugs last until the recommended interval, think its like 128000km.

and coolants/ ATF should be drained/ refill

just telling u what the dealership told me. but its good news for me, a lot lower price tag than what i thought before. i have been doing coolant/ ATF change so save some $$.

rockauto's data base is very inacurate!

Go with OEM.

Toyota of Dallas will send you a pump for an I4 for 105.42 and one for a V6 for 88.20. Stick with Toyota if you can.

Change the pump with the belt. The labor isn't much more, but a failed pump can cost you an engine.

Sure, sticking with OEM is the safe bet for many. No problems with that.
