5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Wal-marts Energizer Max CA 800, CCA 640 with 9 years warranty, 3 year free replacement. Is it necessary to get a little higher CA and CCA? Will ask WM if they carry any higher ones.
For the car, it runs mostly stereo, stock audio, some air condition in the summer and that's all.
weather/ temperature-wise; winter: -20 to -5 Celsius, summer 25 to 30 Celsius
Did you get the smaller Group 35 battery with it? See if the larger Group 24F will fit. You should be able to get 935CA, 750CCA, 130min RC with it (vs 800/640/100).
In general, get the largest capacity battery that will fit.
Energizer Max is made by Johnson Controls. It's an excellent battery. I'd prefer the AC Delco Maintenance Free but these are hard to find and can be a bit stale if I do.
You can also get the Autozone ones, also made by Johnson Controls. So are some Toyota batteries.

I put an Energizer Max in my 2004 Camry V6 last December and it performed just like the OEM battery. Size 24F. Hot off the shipping pallet. You want to watch what WalMart employees do when it comes to tightening fasterners. I haven't met one yet that knows squat about anything pertaining to automobiles.
Those AGM batteries are more than twice the cost and may not provide any realized benefit. They are more resistant to vibration and such but a regular battery works find also. Millions of vehicles out there to prove it too.

They r deep cycle battery, they can handle a full discharge and recharged better than regular battery.
That should be fine then. Autozone's top Duralast Gold 24F (~$90) has higher numbers: 935CA, 750CCA, 130min RC. However, with only 8yr prorated warranty/3yr free replacement. AZ's smaller Group 35 has exactly the same performance numbers as the Walmart you listed.
They're both JCI batteries. So just look for the best value 24F among the labels. The better ones have more plates (and more CCA, RC), and the cheaper ones just less (EverStart or ValuCraft).
I wouldn't get an AGM battery (JCI's Optima). These need to be charged at a lower voltage I thought or they boil the electrolyte easily, and there isn't much in there. I don't think they're worth 2x the cost. They are fine only on European premium cars with intelligent battery management systems that change charging rates according to the age and capacity of the battery.

and pretty sure i was looking at the right one. seems like the Everstart line was regular line with lowest warranty.
There is a 'premium' line with 6 years warranty and 2 years free replacement.
then is the 'Max' line with 9 years warranty and 3 years free replacement.
Whatever their catalog says, what does it say on your battery? Do you see a 24F, 35, or 34?
Just go to Autozone then. I think they'll even install it free, but call to check. Get their Duralast-Gold. It's only $10 more than the mid-grade Duralast.
That's why I was asking you about the Group numbers, because what you mentioned didn't sound like a 24F. 35 is slightly shorter (~0.4"), and 34 is even shorter (~0.8") for hood clearance.

their book recommended 108-35N Energizer Max CA 800, CCA 640.
then found out their 108-34N Energizer Max CA 1000, CCA 795 is the same size as my OEM battery that i want to replace. Obviously 108-34N will fit.
the rep told me that i must get the recommended 108-35N. If I get the 108-34N, even though it fits, they will NOT honor their 9 year warranty...
installation is not included with the purchase of a battery, extra $ 15-18.
And if bring back the old battery, no refund of environmental fee.
