I just did the LED swap to blue on my gauge cluster and the only gauge not working correctly is the speedo.
The Temp seems to be in the right spot, gas seems right will find out tomorrow driving some distance and the rpms rev correctly.
The speedo is acting crazy.
Some times it advances as you accelerate but when you start braking instead of it going back down decreasing in speed it keeps going up. Than when you come to a stop it stops right there. Than you start going again and it starts advancing again and when you brake it still advances and so on.
Yes I have moved the needle manually which I am sure was prob not the right thing to do.
Oh yeah and when you shut off the car it stays where ever it is, it doesn't drop back down to 0.
I did a battery reset hoping that would help, it didn't.
After 2 hours of messing with it tonight I just gave up and put it all back together.
I really need to fix this its not even an option, what steps would some of you take to trouble shoot it.
Or is it something simple?
Or even better am I screwed and I messed something up and need to get another one?
I have an extended warranty from when I bought the car but I doubt if they see that I have been in there they will warranty it.
Thanks for your help
Bernie
don't do a battery reset, try doing a cluster reset... meaning unplug all the connectors from the gauges, zero the needles, plug the wires back in, and start the car...
The needles should fidget a little and recalibrate.

I have done that.
So it is ok to move needles manually.
I will try that again
When spinning the needle of the speedo it has two different different types of feel to it.
one is very loose than it gets tight but still spins since I have messed with it so much how will I know when i have it properly zeroed out?
when off needle rest at zero so thats where is should be when it stops being loose and gets tight?
Thanks

Pull the gauge needle off, then rotate the pin to the left until it cannot rotate... that's what the zero is put the needle back on at the zero position

So take it all apart down to where I can spin the pin itself with nothing attached to it until it wont turn to the left any more than put back together placing the needle of course on the zero?
Thanks
Bernie
Took it all apart and did the reset again and still acting all funny
I am guessing I messed something up and need a new cluster?
Unless someone else has another idea to try
Thanks
Bernie
Toyotapartsales.com has it for $527.47. That should get you back to where you started. Beware of junkyard pulls. It has to be exactly what you have--LE/AT/I4 or whatever. Good luck there.

check on ebay for a parts one and just change whats broken.
Thats just it I dont know what "broke" or why its acting funny, I checked it over pretty carefully today and couldnt find any solder drops or anything fishey.
I found one on ebay that was out of a LE 4cyl auto w/ only 26000 miles.
We have currently 24500 miles on ours. prob be close by the time it gets here but how would it work. would the miles change to what my car has or whats on the odometer?
I figured I could put the replacement in and see if i could figure something out with the old one.
Is there anyone out there who fixes them? Just curious
Thanks for all the input I will post up if I figure it out but until than I will just deal with a normally lit stock cluster The blue looked so cool too
Thanks
Bernie
