Camry 2003 Rear Brake Slide Pin Seized. Couldn't find the top bolt, need help.

Dealer's technician told me my 2003's rear brake slide pin was seized. The service fee is $300 so I decided to do it myself. Today I took the rear wheel off. I was suprised that the caliper has only one mounting bolt. I took the botom mounting bold off and put some high temperature greese. What can I do with the top one which is not a bolt. Am I wrong? I couldn't find another bolt?

Die for your answers. Thanks.

I believe the upper "slide pin" you show in your picture is actually inside the brake cylinder assembly. I have never had one of these TMC calipers apart, but I believe if you remove the lowere "bolt"[ which is a slide pin] you should be able to rotate the caliper up to where it clears the disc and then slide the brake cylinder off the upper pin. My 2004 manual shows that the upper pin torques to 29 ft. lbs [it probably has an internal wrenching allen head recess] and the lower slide pin [bolt] torques to 25 ft. lbs. The upper pin is actually inside the tapered portion of the cylinder housing where you have the arrow pointing to.Hope this helps. I would like to scan the TMC brake cylinder component illustration into my computer and show you the arrangement, but I am not computer savvy enough to do that. Rotating the brake cylinder on the upper slide pin should break the rust and allow you to tap the cylinder off with a soft face hammer or use a piece of hard wood to drive th clyinder off of the pin. This is conjecture, but I cannot see any other way of removing the cylinder from the cylinder mounting. Good luck. I am interested in seeing if other members have actually overhauled a TCM made brake cylinder.

I agree that is should pivot up, but before trying that give it a liberal dose of Liquid Wrench from both sides if the back can be reached and let it soak a bit.
