5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
hey guys I just bought a 2011 camry se about a month and a half ago... I'm trying to find a supercharger for it preferably a trd.. but if not another brand... any suggestions?? thanks in advance.
The TRD Supercharger for the 2.4 had so many problems so they stop making it. I think they will make another one for the Scion tC 2012(2.5 same engine as the gen6.5) But I don't think it will come anytime soon since the 2012 tC haven't come yet. I hope they make more improvement and no more problems on it. I just want Trd to make more parts for us(strut bar, intake, supercharge, shock, ......)
I just hate it when Scion came out and Trd just forgot about Camry. Even yaris have more Trd/aftermarket than us.

Thats the purpose of the Scion. Attract the younger crowd and be more customizable where as the Camry is a family car which has been for the past 20+ years or so.
thanks for the input guys.. I guess ill just hold out a while and see what trd has in store for the tc with the 2.5.. I was thinking turbo but I have had 4 turbo cars over the years and 2 s/ced.... the turbo may have built more power but were always jumpy.. and hell on the engine especially higher compression engines such as the 2.5 in the camry now.. my s/ced cars were smooth and reliable over and over again at the track and as daily drivers... all of my forced induction cars were factory forced I didn't do it.. Im not a fan of the common tuner.. I prefer something a little more out of the norm..(hence the camry and not a tc).. the sleeper something you wouldn't expect.. anyway again thanks to everyone for your input.. here's hoping trd throws us a bone with a s/c or even a turbo kit if need be...

The Camry isn't performaced based like the tC is....Scion is going after CivicNation....Toyota is more family based....
Just turbo it...or buy a Gen5 1MZ and put the SC on it.... FTW. If you can even find one, they're pretty rare and if you can find one...pricey.
Well, the problem is that Toyota dropped their performance base, it didn't used to be this way.
Toyota used to be all about performance:
MR2, Supra, Celica, AE86 etc.
Also, I don't see how anyone takes Scion seriously as well... anything. A supercharged Scion tC is about the same speed as a V6 Camry... and handling is where it actually is more like a Camry than any legitimate performance car.
Speaking of the TC, dont the tc have the same 2.4 engine as the 2.4 i4 engines in the camry? Wont engine parts be interchangable between the too then in terms of gains?
