5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I have looked through most of the posts and i am never able to find any good audio/video thread so I would like to may be get some info about what everyone has in the audio/video in their cars. I just ordered my stuff so i am excited.
My idea is to list what u have and any tips u found useful:
i will go first:
Head Unit: Clarion DVD vrx775vd
Front Speakers: alpine 6.5 Type r component (ordered)
Rear Speakers: alpine 6*9 Type r component (ordered)
everything looks pretty good, please dont get a capacitor IMO, get the yellow top instead 100 times better than a cap and provides more reserve capacity, as for sound deadening look into secondskinaudio.com great stuff. as for power wires you can look into 0awg from knukonceptz.com cheap wiring that is true gauge wire. again this is just my suggestions, go with what pleases you.

thanks guys I am looking into the yellow tops. anyone knows where to get a goo and about how much a high output alternator will cost? Who on this forum is running High output alternator ?
skip the capacitor, it will hurt the alternator more because the alt. will need to charge the battery and the cap.
False....
When you first install a cap, you have to charge it manually. After it has a charge, it holds a charge. There is no additional strain on an alternator from using a cap.

I am running 4 gauge amp kit, Earthquake Kompressor bass tube 10" and a 400W 2channel bridged to one with stock head unit for now. I love it but I am out for really good sound not rattling the neighborhood...lol

6x9 infinity reference speakers. if you want to keep stock headunit and change only speakers... make sue the speaker has 2 ohm impedance for best sound. thats what i learned
looks like you going with fi audio....the thing is with that sub your going to have to build the box in the trunk unless you do 4 cubes ported sub up port back imo....because really optimal space is good for that sub, compact spec of a box for the sub will just rob the full potential of that sub...as for the amplifiers kicker is ok... the 4 channel is good for your mids and highs..but i would consider changing that zx1000.1 since the fi q is either dual 2 or dual 1 voice coil your going to want to go with an amplifier thats 1 ohm stable or .05 ohm stable..i think the kicker is not 1 ohm stable if i still remember right theres so many cheaper amplifier options you can go with like AUDIOQUE..just my personal preference though...if you want to go all out deaden the whole trunk with second skin or raamat go with 0 guage wiring and get a goodbattery yellow top/ red top optimas or go with kinetik...

take alook at my page.....you will need some adapters for the speakers you can buy them off ebay...as for a h/o alt i got one off excessive amperage 200amp for $375 but its not necessary to get one, with what your running your be fine on the stock alt. Its 100amps. I prob would have been fine on stock alt too, but oh well if i plan to upgrade to something bigger then i have a alt for it. lol no need for capacitor....wiring go with the kicker hyperflex kit, the older kit its cheaper then the new ones out. As for sound deadening go with second skin, thats what i used works great. make sure when you switch out the rear speakers to apply sound deadening back there because other wise with your system, you will have alot of rattling. you can ask anyone else who has subs. its a annoying slapping noise. For the subs your going to need a custom made box by someone unless you know how to make boxes. Just give them the specs of the sub and the tuning you want. also i had that same kicker amp before that zx1000.1 it was great but look into a sundown audio saz1500d thats what im running and i never had a problem with it at all. hope this helps.
Not a big Kicker fan here. For the list price of those Kicker amps, I would have gone Arc Audio instead.
Not sure about the speakers. I can't find what the tweeters are made of, but if they're not silk, I probably won't touch them. The only exception would be Focal... Otherwise, I tend not to like the sound from metallic tweeters. This is highly personal though.

I'm in the midst of installing my audio. Won't be running any subs but will be running front components. Trying to decide where to mount the amp since I can't slap it on the backseat due to the opening (which I need).

Thanks Guys
Going with the fi Q (2010) dual 1 with the kicker zx1000 produces power @ 2 ohms so i think i should be ok. in terms of a box my buddy is a wiz with these things and he has been doing instals as long as i could remember so i am not too worried. i am looing into sound deadening maybe dynamat or second skin i have to check those out.
I will check out the H/O alts. nice to know i will be OK for now
how was the zx1000 interns of power and durability ?
