Hey guys, sorry if that has been posted before. I think this only applies to the people that have the v6 engine (2gr-fe) not exactly sure, but i saw this on youtube and seems like it works, but i dont know if its just a gimmick. As for the v6 engines there are two tubes that go to the air box, one tube will open up at a high rpm, and by changing the vacuum lines directly to the valve it will constantly stay open to allow more air. What i want to know is this small mod safe? i dont want to ruin anything in the long run. thanks
This particular "mod" was brought up about 6 months ago or so, I think. I would recommend against doing this type of mod. The minor benefit that this mod could bring would provide no noticeable benefit.
As a side note (but somewhat related), the K&N intake on their 2GR-FE, comes with two little plugs to close off those two vertically stacked nozzles on the left side of the photo. Much of the original intake piping is replaced with that intake.

6 months?? HA.. did this mod 3 years ago... it bypasses the vsv valve so the butterfly valve is constantly open
I dont know if its just me, but it seems like the response time is a bit better and picks up pretty well also. but idk probably just my brain thinking its better. Yea a intake is nice, but if you really think about it, its not a cold air intake, and it costs like $200. allowing more air with this mod wouldnt hurt anything right? it just keep the valve open since i never get up to high rpm's anyways. if anyone else tries it let me know if you feel a difference or its just a stupid thing to do.
