gas tank noise

i own a 2002 Toyota Camry V6. This car gets horrible milage. i do street driving only and get only 16-17mpg with 87 octane. I decided to open my gas cap today and heard a weird noise that persisted even when you close and reopen the cap. Here's a video to show what i mean.

http://vimeo.com/12323411

when i filmed it, the car was off for 30 minutes. any ideas on what i could be? I hope it's not a leak.

Ur gas tank has a demon

That sounds just like a drain noise. kinda like what the drain sounds like in your sink after turning the water off.Have you noticed anything on the ground after leaving your car sit? Try getting a drip pan and sit under it to see if anything collects. I doubt anything's leaking though, but just to be safe!

it's in the garage and i don't see any gas on the ground so i guess it's not leaking on the ground. It's hella annoying though. this car gets horrible milage and i'm thinking this is where the problem is. I'm guessing damaged fuel pump or something. i really don't know.

I doubt the noise from the injectors or rail would carry all the way backwards into the tank. fuel pump possibly

which is why I said check the fuelpump and lines first...

but damn i'm stumped to be honest. I got crappy gas mileage, but thats because I still was running oversized injectors. Switched em out last saturday and I finally saw 400 to my tank once again.

but that noise.. weird.

My guess is that it is related to the vapor recovery canister.
