5th & 6th Generation (2002-2006 & 2007-2011)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 2002-2006 & 2007-2011
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
So I just took my car to the dealer to get some TSBs done..
-Front Brake Squeak
-Rear Brake Squeak
-Instrument Panel Rattle
-Braking Vibration @ High Speeds.
(I forgot to tell them about Transmission Flare, but I don't get that often)
also I asked them to bend my driver's side TRD muffler so it's more flush because a lot of TRD mufflers are touching the bumper.
The guy said he's going to charge me 96$ for checking and another 100$ for repairing if those "TSB issues" were found.
I showed him that they should be free because I printed out all of the TSBs but he said that it doesn't apply to my vehicle because it's 2008. The TSBs only applied to 2007
Well first he charged me and I was like..wait this is for 36 month/36,000 miles and I'm like 2 years & 20,000~ ish. So then he looked through the TSBs I printed and he says they apply to 2007 Camrys. Indeed it says 2007 model year Camry..but I thought 2007s are like..almost the same as 2008s =_=

No, that doesn't make any sense... imagine if 2011 Camrys still had 2007 problems and needed TSB applied.... each new production year, they are supposed to correct the problems that the TSBs address (which isn't always done, which is why many TSBs will state 2007-2010 model years apply).
The TSB specifically tells you what years apply.
And he should have known this, looked at the TSB, rejected it, and not charged you anything.
But it's like..I HAVE those problems. I don't go to get TSBs for FUN.
The worst part is I have to pay 100$ if they don't find anything wrong with it..
Could've just shoved some foam in the instrument panel and got my brakes remachined somewhere else...
What problems do you have?

These are not 2007 TSBs. Brake Vibration is a 2007-2010 TSB (probably 2011). Rattles are to fixed, TSB or not.
They are covered under your 36,000 mile warranty. You should have paid nothing.
I'm looking at the Brake vibration and that's the only one that says it's for the 2007-2010 Camry..so I'm thinking that if all of the brakes vibrate, then shouldn't they all squeak too?
The TSB is only to help the technician find a common problem. If you come in for service and complain of a noise or rattle the tech will see if there are any TSB's to help solve the problem faster before taking apart the whole dash. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's free, that will depend on your warranty.
