Unhappy 09 Camry i4 crunch/buzz noise behind dash

Let me start by saying I did a search for days. I probably reviewed 100 threads or more. I typed in different words to describe the condition, but just could not find my particular issue.

Upon start up (whether it be from overnight or a 5 min. stop at a mini market) driving to 10 mph I get this odd buzzy/crunchy/clunky sound from behind the dash (directly behind steering wheel). I also feel it in the steering wheel. It happens at exactly 10MPH and only upon start up. If I come to a stop sign and re-accelerate, it does not do it.

My dealer claims its normal and has something to do with the brakes. It just started doing this, so how could it be normal? The car has 13K miles and I have had it since 11K miles and it never happened until last week.

Has anyone heard of this or experienced this?

No one mentioned the following;

T-SB-0229-09 July 27, 2009
Brake Booster Rattle/Buzz Noise

Applicability

2007 – 2010 Camry

Introduction
Some Toyota vehicles may exhibit a rattle or buzz type noise coming from the driver’s instrument panel area. The noise can be duplicated when lightly accelerating and then decelerating, or when depressing the brake pedal with the shift lever in Park and then releasing brake pedal.

An updated vacuum check valve is now available to reduce this noise.

• This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
• Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

I only presented the main parts, just ask your dealer about the TSB (T-SB-0229-09).

How you describe the problem is an issue. You have to learn to speak "Dealer Service Lingo".

Old PN 44730-22150

New PN 44730-20080

Description Vacuum Valve Assembly

I will check the manual tomorrow, but I did a search 3 times and spent quite a bit of time and found nothing that helped explain this situation.

Ignore njerald. Even in my short membership here, I have discovered him to be a jerk-first-class.
