2002 2.4L Camry Shaky Idle

My shaky idle has not gone away yet. I notice something different. I checked under the Intak Manifold and realize that a tube is cut or not plugged into anything.

Please be advised that this picture is taken under the throttle body. I need to know where the tube (that is circle in red) is suppose to be plugged in. Also, what sensor is the one circle in green and blue. I also recorded a video of how shaky my engine is when at normal idle. Please check it out.

If anyone know a solution please let me know. Your help will greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

nothing looks wrong to me. You have to understand that it's a 4 cylinder, it isn't always going to be buttery smooth. I have an '02 2.4L as well and it idles a bit rough at times as well... usually when the AC is on because it adds to the engine load. But in most cases it's perfectly normal.

looks maybe a little bit more shaky then normal but i think these motors just viberate like that..

i've had 6 lexus's before getting my camry and it kinda took me off gaurd as well lol.. even my turbo sc300 right now i could balance a quarter on the valve cover and it would probably stay in place it's so smooth..

i've got a 03 camry with the 2.4L and it shakes as well, i can't tell if it's worse or less then yours, i'll put a wrench on it and check it out tonight..

I have a Gen 5 4 Cyl SE. I'm encountering the same problem as you. My hard idle comes when my engine is cold. When I pull out of my driveway (in reverse) I experienced very hard idle. So I took it to my mechanic and he told me that it is my Idle Air Control causing the problem. Whether or not this is the prognosis, I did some research on how much this part cost. I found out that it ranges from 550.00 to 790.00 (aftermarket - OEM).

Has anyone have any experince in changing the Idle Air Control unit? Can there also be another reason for this to happen when my engine is cold and when I'm reversing out of my driveway. (NOTE - happens mostly when I put the car into gear when the engine is cold)

Thank you....I will definitely look into that as well, but at the mean time I will research if there is something other than the Idle Air Control unit.

$600!!! I think i'd try cleaning it first

http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/t158097.html

If that doesn't work, i'd consider a junkyard replacement. They are easy to unbolt and usually have a cooling hose or two going into them.

Try cleaning the throtle position sensor first. That's the most common cause for rough idle. Do a search, there were a few DIY threads with pictures.

I have a 07 SE and its always been a little shaky at idle since day one. I took it to the dealer when it was new and they said that its normal with all of the 4 bangers. I recently replaced my air filter with a drop in k&n and it made it somewhat better.

What's the idle speed? Does it ever drop to 500-600RPM and idle very rough. Turns out I needed to clean the throttle body and intake. Weird since I had only 25000 miles or so on the vehicle.

Funny you should say that, my 2009 i4 Camry has been idling at that exact range when i get to red lights/stop signs an shakes A LOT more than when i have my car idle in park (which is usually around 700-800RPM). Think ill give the throttle body and intake a cleaning.

It is covered under warranty if you don't want to do the labor. I didn't know what was wrong with the car at the time and wasn't inclined to go digging around.
