05 Lincon LS V8

Was looking at buying a 2005 Lincoln LS V8 for 3,500 bucks. Already own an 09 Camry SE V6. Does the Lincoln offer comparable performance? And anyone here know how reliable they are? Didn't get much advice at the Lincoln forums. Thanks.

The lincoln may be a little faster because it has slightly more power and torque, but you will get much better economy because the 3.5L V6 in your Camry is much more efficient than the 3.9L V8 in the LS. Another thing to consider is the LS is RWD, so it may drive a litte differently(ie: no torque steer). I really can't say as I've never driven the lincoln. Your best bet is just to drive it and if you like it then buy it. $3500 is pretty cheap too considering it's an '05 and the base price on those things was around $40k.

For $3500, I'd say go for it. That's a tremendous steal for a luxury mid size car, aged or not.

Some years ago, I actually went to a Lincoln dealership to test drive precisely the LS V8. What happened was the salesman brought a demo car from the garage but when I got in and tried to fire it up, it was completely dead.

The salesman experienced this moment:

well..

I ended up replacing my transmission with the lincoln LS v8. I've heard that this was a common problem.

But man that V8 was buttery smooth and powerful.

Maybe the owner is trying to dump that car. 05 is still "old Ford". So no thanks.

So, I drove it. It does not seem to still have 280hp. Also, it feels like you are drifting in a straight line. I offered to pay in gum.
