2002 camry o2 sensor problem

I put on an OBX Exhaust Manifold Headers 02-06 Toyota Camry 2.4L I4 on my 02 camry.
The problem is the check engine light stays on. I have no cat converter and get an error. What can I do to stop this error.
Can I replace the down stream sensor with something.
Thanks in advance,
Jim in Sequim

So you have a down stream sensor but it is apparently malfunctioning? Or there is a sensor there but not attached to anything? The sensor is normally attached to two wires and puts resistance on the circuit based upon what the sensor thinks of the air flow. You could try jumping the wire with a half watt resistor of some value--it will vary, and see if the computer can be tricked. For starters, measure the resistance across the sensor and see if you can match it if the sensor is not installed. Hope this helps a bit because I'm not sure I fully understood the initial question.

Thanks,
I had the error checked and was getting a reading that something was wrong with the cat converter. I have no cat converter, however the system does not know that. Both o2 sensors were checked and are working fine. Just have to do something to make it thinks the cat converter is working even though it is not there. Does that make any sense?

Pull the rear sensor, check the resistance, and compare that resistance to a new one at the parts counter. If substantially different, replace it.
