2011 Camry Vertical Seat Height Adjustment

I recently bought a 2011 Camry (base model). Great suggestions guys; such a wonderful car!

One issue that I have is adjusting the seat height manually with the lever. It doesn't work. I've tried a combination of methods. Pulling the lever, pulling the lever and pushing back with the legs.

Is there a solution I'll need to go back to the dealer for?

Thanks guys.

Not sure what you really meant...by vertical, you mean up and down? If there is anything like that on your car, it's usually a handle that you turn and it will lower or raise the front part of the seat. If you meant you want to push the seat further back or closer to the steering column, then either you push or pull the lever to do that. If that doesn't work you may need to go to the dealer to see if it's a defective or you just don't know how to do it.

BTW, how different is the '11 from the '07-'10?

My mom's Sienna has the knob where you're able to raise/ lower the seat. Not on the 2011 Camry (base) model though. This one has a lever. :O

It could probably just me because I'm still new to the car.

I've driven the '08-'10 models and if there's any differences between them all, they're too small for me to notice. Toyota has probably made some changes to the engine and other little bits and pieces we wouldn't readily notice.

Yeah, what I meant to say was a "knob" to raise/lower the seat. One question, though, are you able to move closer to or farther from the steering column when you push the lever? What I was thinking was that maybe this base model Camry doesn't have the feature to raise or lower the seat. The lever is probably just there so you can slide the seat back and forth only.

i think you can only adjust the height when you have powered seats.

Its been a year since we bought my wife's 2010 and at my age the memory sometimes does funny things but, IIRC, there was a lever on the side that you pumped up and down which raised the seat, This is why my wife wanted to get the upgrade to the LE so we could get electric drivers seat adjustments.

Today's rant. Please nobody should take this too personally. My kids say that I just don't get it sometimes and they are certainly right. Heck, some of YOU say I just don't get it. But here's the deal. Most car dealers have a guy employed in some manner and is usually called a sales consultant, salesman, associate, or whatever, and their job is to sell you a car. Your job in this relationship is to test drive every car you can find until you find the one. The one that drives nice, has the power you feel you need, the headroom you need, the stylishness, the back seat for the kids, the trunk for the crap, and a price you can afford. After all, if you sit in your car while you are driving, and most of us do, and if you figure an average speed of 25 mph, you are going to spend 4000 hours of YOUR time in that car before it hits 100k miles. That's a work week multiplied by 100. Two full years. If you had to sit in an uncomfortable chair at work for two years you'd demand a better fitting chair, call your union if you had one, or maybe go buy your own and bring it to work, because nobody needs to be that uncomfortable.
The difference in price of the base Camry and the Camry LE is currently $1455. Over 4000 hours that works out the 36 cents an hour to have a seat that fits. I'm sure that I am missing something here and somebody will complain that they can't afford the extra $1455 but the response would be that if your waistline was 38 inches, would you buy 26 inch Jockeys in the kids section because they were cheaper?

Just looked up the 2011 specs and it shows that the 2011 also has vertical adjustment just like the 2010.

Maybe someone should read the owners manual?

I know my 2011 SE has an electronic knob on the middle left hand side of the seat to adjust the vertical height of the seat. All other controls controlling tilt, direction and horizontal slide are further forward.

The original poster is talking about a base model Camry with manual adjust drivers seat. There is a lever on the left side of the drivers seat that you PUMP up and down to raise or lower the seat. He speaks of pushing it up, down, back and forward but does not speak of PUMPING it. Once again, maybe someone should read their owners manual.

My 2011 Sienna has a similar problem. The manual veritical adjustment works, but the seat returns to the lowest possible position after driving.

Only the rear of the seat goes up, basically a tilt feature, and that's great, but why does it go back to the bottom after you get out and shut the car off. Service advisor can't figure it out either.

The owners manual does not mention anything other than how to make it go up or down.

I can't find any info on how the adjustment works. Might have to pull the seat to figure it out.

Have a great day!
