Question 2002 USA or Japan bumper?

Hey everyone,
Well after being a quiet member on here for so long, I've finally got a question that I don't believe has already been answered on the board!

I've got a Japanese-manufacturered '02 Camry and I'm about to replace the front bumper (it's got more curb scratches than my bottle of polish can take out!). In my search for a new OEM bumper, I'm wondering if there is any difference between bumpers for a USA-built Camry vs Japan-built?

Thanks in advance!

Looking at the parts lists, they appear to be the same but a call to your dealer's parts counter would verify that. Do you have a cut out/lug opening in the bumper for towing? The USA built do not have this at all, but many Japan built cars do.

the physical appearance on front bumper is different between Japanese and U.S. made,
the Japanese bumper has a small square plastic opening that is intend for towing or lock-down the vehicle on boat, other than that, it is identical.

oh, depend on the model, Japanese one might have the fog light cut out, and US does not.

That's great... thanks for the info.

I checked my Japan-spec bumper last night and sure enough, there was a small 1"x1" cover to the left of my license plate. Guess I'll try hunting for a US-spec bumper. I don't like the cut-out and I don't think I'll be shipping my car anytime soon!

US vs JP = fits fine.

I have a JP built car as well and when i got my car painted i had the bumper replaced and it is a US bumper and it fits fine.

Keep your old bumper for in the winter though. Only takes 10mins to swap them.

Good to hear they work fine. I've ordered the US bumper (as it had the best availability).

Storing it over the winter is a great idea... think I'll do that.
