2002 Camry engine check light on and off

Hi, I have a question.

I have a used 2002 Toyota Camry LE with 128 K mi. I recently had it checked comprehensively at meineke and was told that everything was perfect. Today while on the road I suddenly felt a loss of acceleration and the engine check light came on, I could drive with minimum power only (the same that you have with the gear engaged in drive mode). I stopped after a mile and restarted, the light remained on but I was able to accelerate normally. I parked the car for 2 hours and then when I started it again, there was neither any check light nor any acceleration problem. Should I be concerned?

thanks

Well, yes, you should be concerned. It will likely return. Have someone check the error codes and see if it left anything in memory.

Hi

I am reposting this issue as I have an update to add.

I have a used 2002 Toyota Camry LE with 128 K mi. I recently had it checked comprehensively at meineke and was told that everything was perfect.

Last week as soon as I started from home (the car was parked overnight and was not hot at all) and came on the road, I suddenly felt a loss of acceleration and the engine check light came on, I could still drive with low speed so I drove on and pulled up after a mile. I put off the engine and restarted, the car ran fine and the light went off too.

This happened again yesterday on the highway but this time the light remained on even after I cut off and started the car several time. I eventually was towed to a AAA garage and they ran diagnostics for a full day. They cant diagnose anything, everything looks perfect and they even drove the car at high speed for miles. Any suggestions experts?

thanks

Since the problem comes and goes, start by opening and examing every electrical connector on the engine related to emissions or air flow. Look for any loose or broken vacuum hoses.

If your light remais on they were suppose to read the code. Take it to Autozone: they read codes for free.
