How to replace power outlet on my 2005 camry?

Can anyone tell me (without destroying my dash) my in dash power outlet on my 2005 camry?? The one I trying to replace is the one that is in the dash -not the one in the console. I just can't figure how to get the panel it is mounted to out.

Please help. This is driving me crazy

What did you do to it that it needs to be replaced? Looking at your new replacement, it should give you a hint as to what to do.

The outlet is mounted on a small, approximately 6 in by 2 inch, panel. Can't figure out how to pull the panel along with the outlet out.

Any help you could give me would be great!

The panel probably pries out with a putty knife, but what is wrong that you can't fix this in-place????

you will need to remove that center console with the little cubby area. that small panel with the cigarette lighter is attached to that via screws and clips.

it's actually pretty simple, and you could probably do most of the disassembly without tools.
1. open up the armrest, pull up on the trim that covers the shifter area and includes the cup holders.
(you may need a taped up screwdriver to pry it up, and to set your parking brake to get the trim clear.)
2. pull up and out on the center console
(you may need to put the car in to neutral to allow clearance for the console to come out. you can do this with the car off by prying up the small cover on the shifter and pressing the bypass button while you shift. set your parking brake first!)
3. disconnect the plug from the cigarette lighter
4. unscrew the two screws that are holding that panel in
5. unclip the panel

you should be able to figure it out from there.
