I'm in NY state and yesterday test drove a 2011 Camry. The salesman was adamant that they could not go below their advertised price on a lease which was:
12k/year
$1800 down (includes tax, title, first month payment, destination fee)
$185/month
This is based on a $21,250 (he said) invoice with a $14,144 residual. He said the money factor was .00002, but I think he may have thrown in an extra 0 or two.
Using truecar I see that a sales price of $21,250 on this car is within a few bucks of their "great price".
Three months ago at the same dealer I bought a 2010 Prius and I did bargain them down off their initial prices but I almost believe this guy that they have no wiggle on this.
BTW I test-drove a 6-speed CE. I like it more than the LE but apparently their resale is so low (I know manuals are dying) that the monthly price actually goes up $4, plus it lacks key less entry and power driver's seat. It was reasonably peppy although the shifter on it was about 4 feet long, felt like a big rig!
First, you have talked to one dealer? If you talk to another and compare apples to apples, then you will know what the best deal is. If you are down to a matter of $4 a month then you re looking at the wrong things in the deal and maybe can't afford the car anyway, so step back and take an objective look, and see what sort of car with what options you actually want or need. Unless you are willing to drive to Phoenix to pick up a new car, understand that the pricing of new vehicles in your area is dependent upon a number of factors including the local expenses of operating the dealership, I can probably buy a new Camry in Dallas for less than in Long Island.
Second, your personal info says you live on the Moon. If you want serious help that can sometimes be regional in nature, consider changing that.

Thanks--I'm in NY state. Only one dealer so far but if nobody else has recent experience with better results I'm not sure it's worth the time having them compete. $4 is no problem either way--just an idle observation about the prices
I bought my 2011 Camry a few months ago for $16,990 plus taxes and tags. I guess the dealer was hard up for a sale, as they sent that price to me (via an email, as an existing customer); I didn't even have to haggle. The MSRP is a hair over $21,000 as I recall, including the OEM floormats.
Dealers in my area are still advertising either $16,990 or $17,990, depending on the dealer. Cars must be selling faster in your area than in mine.
And that's the point. The OP wanted to know what the best deal was, and the answer is that it changes from hour to hour, city to city. People in my part of the country would NEVER pay sticker for any car. It just does not happen. Ford tried it here when they brought out the new Thunderbird a few years ago and it flopped. If you want the best deal, talk to dealers nationally and be prepared to do the deal on the phone and have the car shipped, or be prepared to fly somewhere and pick it up. If you have three dealers in your area and that's as far as you are willing to go, then your best deal rests amongst those three dealers. If you want to go to North Carolina you can get a better deal, but you have your travel time and expenses to consider. Does anyone here really remember, or care, how much they paid for a car 7 years ago? Folks, you pay for convenience sometimes. It's just like 7-11. Check out of town. A dealer can afford to give you a one-time low price and if he makes the deal then he has made a buck that he would never otherwise have seen. Make sure he knows you are calling from 200 miles away.

Where are you guys located? Are you just playing around?
How can you honestly knock off thousands off of the MSRP's --- anyone I know who's tried to do that, or even myself, has been laughed at hysterically.
I know as a buyer the ball is in your court, but dealers aren't that desperate. At least here in NY.
Those low prices do not include Toyota incentives like 0% financing and the free maintenance(which doesn't amount to much).
At least that's what one low price Camry buyer told me here.
If you can pay cash or able to get a very low interest loan and want to deal with buying out of state ,those deals work.

It would not include 0% financing. That's an either-or type of thing. I'm actually at $16,888, and including the 4.89% interest rate, the total (including the finance charge) is about $20,500. Paying 0% on sticker price would have put me in about the same boat, in terms of price.
Your friend was incorrect about the free maintenance; all new Toyotas, regardless of price paid, include the free maintenance.

Getting a low rate along with low loan number helps.
If you borrow say $20K at 6% for 60 months,you'll pay around $3200 in interest.You're not buying many or more likely any Camry for $3200 under invoice.
So the big discount looks great but would cost more than buying at invoice and 0% financing with the numbers above.Depends on loan amount and interest number. .
Free maintenance isn't a big deal.Two oil changes and rotations.
I got mine in Milford mass. And have a 60 month loan at 0% interest rate for 19,100. Sticker was 24xxx. I thought it was a good deal... Esp. for an Se.
