Gen6 Using fogs without turning on lowbeams

Sorry if this has been over already, but i couldnt find in a search..

Im trying to figure out a way to have my fogs be on, without the lowbeams on at the same time. I know it has something to do with the wiring, but dont know where to start. Is there some sort of rewiring that possible or would a whole other switch/module be needed?

Anyone ever do/try this before?

The correct way is to remove the fog relay from the mounting socket and wire the high side of the coil to the accessory power line (this will turn on the fogs when ever the ignition switch is on, if the stalk switch is on).

The real trick is to accomplish this and get all of the other connections to connect in the socket. I would extend all but the coils source connections from the original socket to the new mounting position, that would be two heavier wires and 1 lighter size wire. That would be power from the fog fuse to the wiper contact on the relay, power to the fog lights from the normally open contact (larger size wires), and the power to the coil from the accessory source, and the last wire from the other side of the coil to the controlling contact in the original relay mounting socket (both are the smaller size wires).

The relay has small and large connections. the small connections are the coil and the large connections are for the relay high power contacts.

Thanks for the reply... I tried this the other day with no luck, but im going to go to my brothers this week as he is very good with electronics. Two questions:

1) Have you done this before on your own car?

2) Were you stil able to turn on and off your lowbeams freely?

I have not done this, as I am content with the OEM setup. I work as an Engineering Tech on large satellite antenna systems and install and make work the engineers concepts for upgrades. I have been doing this around the country for 20 plus years.

The functions of the stalk switches are not altered, only when the fog lights are turned on. OEM turn on is only with the tail lights, after mod, with the ignition switch.

If your are not familiar with basic electricity, help is advised......
