2006 Camry LE 4 cyl.
I just changed my rotors and pads.
When I took the old pads off (they were replaced once before with pads from the dealer) they looked like this:
The dealer sold me these:
So did I install the wrong pads, did they give me the wrong ones at the first replacement or did Toyota change the pads for my 2006 LE 4 cyl?
Well, if they fit, then install and use them. Ever cross your mind that the new ones may have been an improvement on the old?? If the basic outline pattern is the same, then don't sweat it. As you learn about cars you will discover that function is more important than form.

thanks......pretty much what i was saying as well .............i cannot understand this............they buy it from the dealer, and they think its wrong................why bother then...........?? (questioning the dealer's parts man)
^ this is one part I REALLLLLLYYYYYYY want to be correct and work appropriately and correctly in my car. If U know what I mean.
OP, u should call the dealer and ask the part department. Or call a different dealer and ask them. It wouldn't hurt to double or triple check.
well if this IS THE ONE PART you REALLLLLLY want to be correct, and you BUY IT FROM THE DEALER.................why would YOU QUESTION the EXPERIENCE of the parts-man at the dealership...........?? and i must add, the parts that are listed in his COMPUTER...??????
you go in, you tell them ALL they need to know about YOUR car, and they SELL YOU the parts YOU NEED...........
how simple a concept is this...........??
furthermore............why didn't the original poster GO BACK TO the dealership and ASK THEM if they sold him the wrong parts, was he that STUPID to do that, or was he MORE stupid to come here and ask.......??? what common sense did the original poster show us, by NOT going back to the dealership FIRST.............????? i see so much LACK of common sense here on these boards, by a bunch of wannabe mechanics............then you wonder why your car don't run right...........
are some of you guys REALLY this ignorant to the way things are............???? IF SO then my god almighty, go to a garage or A DEALER, and PAY THEM to DO THE JOB while you sit QUIETLY in the waiting room, and let the PROFESSIONALS do their job, instead of being the cry-baby namby-pamby's that many of you are.............my god, i ain't seen NOTHING like the ignorance that i have seen on any other website.............regarding parts, how they look, what color should they be, are they different, did i get the right one, was i charged too much............christ guys, get a frigging life outside of all this ignorance you have............
you ordered the parts that you needed, and they look "slightly different"..............so what.........????? christ, almighty............
i'm telling you...........i CAN SEE why njerald is the way he is, and i'm seeing him as a smart enough guy to also tell you guys off...............that wasn't my first impression of him though, but now, i UNDERSTAND him....better..........!!

At the risk of sounding sarcastic...
That's why two weeks ago I had to return, to my dealer, an oil filter for my camry that was the wrong one.
Why would you think the dealer never makes a mistake?

Please note that in my orginal question I asked "...or did Toyota change the pads for my 2006 LE 4 cyl?"
I was looking for someone who may have known an answer to that , not for suggestions that I blindly use something that was clearly different

I have never been able to figure out why some people have this blind faith that their dealer is perfect.
Going back to 1989 I have had problems with my local dealer being a moron and being dishonest.
The dealership has been bought and sold several times, the mechanics and parts people have come and gone, but there are 2 things that remain consistent over all these years and all the personnel / ownership changes.
1. Most of the advice the dealer gives is not 100% accurate (and is given only to increase their profits)
2. The dealer does everything they can imagine to needlessly remove money from your wallet, even if it means bold face lying to you, and having another employee back up that lie.
DOUBLE CHECK EVERYONE ALL THE TIME, especially in this economy.
Your dealer is looking out for themselves, not you.

Before you crank the flame thrower up too much:
People screw up. Including parts clerks, the people at the warehouse, and vendors. Parts get mislabeled. Parts get re-boxed. And the bottom line: the installer is the 'last line of defense'. And when the part looks different, it's good to be suspicious.
Example: The dealer ordered a trim part from Honda that needed replacement under warranty for one of my previous vehicles. The clerk picked the 'right' thing off the menu. The box said the right part #. But the part in the box was WRONG - not the correct color (a similar, but notably different alternative trim color), and looking at the cast-in part #, not what was on the box. This happened twice - the third time, they got the right. 2 extra appointments, wasting my and the tech's time. So far, I haven't had to put my TCH under a dealer's 'loving care', but assuming that a part is 'right' just because the box says so is a leap of faith I'm not willing to make.
Toyota has sourced the Camry from both Japan and US, with different suppliers in each case - there have been issues of non-interchange. And a parts clerk 'having a hurried day' can easily spec something 'not quite right'.
When my only car is on jack stands, the brakes and rotors are off and I have a question about a part, I can't really walk the 8 miles to the dealer to show him a part that I think may be incorrect. SINCE IT FIT I WAS ONLY WONDERING IF ANYONE KNEW IF THERE WAS A CHANGE FROM TOYOTA.
If you want to argue with/insult someone please keep it within your immediate family, I'm sure they are more use to it then I am. I came to this forum for assistance, not to be insulted by social misfits.
I sincerely apologize for thinking I could get help form people who have nothing to offer and expend so much energy doing so. It will never happen again.
