Silicone CAI

I'm working on my girlfriend's 02 2.4l I4 Camry and she's looking to get rid of the asthmatic wheezing sound coming from what we believe is her intake, while gaining a couple of MPGs and WHPs. I know that opinions on short-ram intakes and CAIs are uniquely divided among members of this forum because short-rams take in warm engine air, which is why they're often called WAIs and CAIs being almost always constructed of metal conduct engine bay heat, and heat the air passing through them, defeating the purpose. I propose piecing together a Cold Air Intake routed to the wheel well or similar location, made of insulated silicone hose, rather than metal piping.

It's similar in price to metal tubing, clamps better, bends, insulates, and works well enough for intercooler piping, so why not use it for a N/A CAI?

MAYBE silicone wrapped aluminum piping, but over on a few other forums i noticed people doing everything imaginable, boxes around the filter, heat wrapping intake piping 3 times in exhaust wrap and still did not really lower AIT's much. also, another downside with a CAI is the length of piping means you are giving the incoming air more distance to travel therefore you result in more top end with a loss of bottom end performance. So technically it depends on if you want top end or bottom end performance. Short ram (wai) is good for bottom, CAI for top, and i TRY to make mine mid-range (more power in the 2500-4500 rpm range).
