If haven't change your transmission fluid, then that's is extremely normal (what a sentence

I know Toyota give very uninformed schedule maintence guide, but you should change the tranny fluid about every 30 K and sooner if you do mostly city driving. I recently change my mom Corolla ATF and that was quite black with about 45 K on it. My dad 98 Camry with 30,000 miles on the fluid and it was dark red and brownish...good time to change. But don't worry too much, putting an 20 K on the fluid is not gonna kill anything, just don't make it a habit. I've seen tranny fluid with 100K on them, they look like pretty bad but some people don't change them until their transmission is shifting funny. Well, they still get at least 150 K out of their car so not to worry but if you want 300k out your tranny, change it at least every 30 K. Only cost like 40 buck at Midas, and don't forget to do the differential fluid too.
