hey guys, thanks to untitlejk i purchased 2 rolls of trimbrite black out tape from amazon. it was very easy to install. I finished the door trims, but not sure if i should also do the bottom trim, i did a small piece and it looks out of place. what do you guys think? cover or no cover? i know that the gen 5.5 have black door trims and the bottom trim is chrome which doesnt look to bad.

I like it. How does it look up close? I really wish Toyota left the chrome trim around the doors out and just had them black. Looks a lot cleaner that way especially on a black ride with tinted black windows. When you see the chrome is looks kinda tacky imo. Might have to try this has long has it looks clean in person .

it sticks pretty good, but i dont know about long term. it takes a good amount of time to apply to make it look nice and even and have no air bubbles which is a huge problem even if you take your time, each door trim took me a good half hour or so.
dont know if these pics do any good, but in one of the photos the edge is pretty hard to make it look good, just havent had time to really straighten it out.

thanks, yea im not really sure about the bottom chrome either, just smoothed out and trimed the edges for a perfect fit. coolhandsean your right, the bottom chrome doesnt stand out too much. it reminds my of my old 2005 camry le that my dad now has, the gen 5.5 has black painted door trims and a bottome chrome trim piece.

use a heatgun/blow dryer if youre having trouble at the curves.
curves where acutally easier than i expected, i lined up the bottom edge for the chrome trim then pulled the top up cover the trim while pushing out any air bubbles, but using a heat gun or hair dryer will really help mold the tape but in my case it was already like 85 outside and it was pretty easy to stretch it.

shouldve done the bottom too. didnt I tell u to buy 2 rolls?
it looks better with the bottom done
oh and to reply to ur PM, I simply stretched it while applying to conform to the curves. heatgun/blowdryers are unnecessary imo. Just be sure to prep it well before applying.. ie, wash then clean with rubbing alcohol.
yea i bought two rolls, used 1 roll just for the top window trims on all 4 doors, have an extra roll for the bottom ones. just wanted some opinions, i might just cover them up one of these days on my days off.

Yes def do the bottom it looks alot cleaner with all the chrome gone. I had to redo one window already the winter made it like fluff out or something and it started to peel. now i notice another window has like a lil tear it in from like a rock scratching it up
