Big help on electrical upgrade for amps for amps (Alternator)
Hi everyone, i have a 2004 toyota camry with the 2az fe engine 4 cyl. I have two rockford stage amps that are both 2500 amps and i need some help. i want to upgrade my alternator because it wont be producing enough power to supply my amps, I would like to know is it possible to add two alternators or would it just explode my battery or should i just add 2 batteries?

just get a high output alternator, upgrade the battery and do the big 3. you should be fine.
If the two amps draw 5k watts at 14 volts, you are going to need an alternator in the 400 amp ballpark. Good luck finding one of those that will fit under the hood, at a reasonable price.

Sorry, but this is too sad and funny at the same time. You have no business messing with this because you have no idea what you are doing. Your questions belie your lack of knowledge. There are in fact ways to 'blow your car up'. It's hard to do, but your questions would suggest that you could do it, and you don't want to get hurt. Find someone in an audio shop who works on massive amplifiers and who could provide some guidance and perhaps install the equipment needed to get your head ringing. I don't mean to be cruel but rather would like to avoid anyone becoming a Darwin Award candidate. At this time, auto electric is above your pay grade.

gdanaher has a good point, find a good reputable car stereo shop to do the install and give you advice, and dont go running to bestbuy stereo department or cartoys... you would atleast need a 200-300 amp alternator, along with a yellow top in the front and atleast 2 batteries to supply enough power to those amps and other electrical equipment.

sure thing man thanks bro i really appreciate ur help and kindness
my opinion is just run a second battery. dont waste your time for an alternator unless your car is strictly competition. Big 3 is a must with 1/0 a guy a know has incriminator audio setup over 5k with only 3 batteries and a stock alt. im running 3k in my talon with 1 battery and stock alt.
Then if that doesnt work too good or you see alot of dimming then you buy the alternator
Also I think its even a better idea to join the car audio forums lots of knowledge thats where i went when i purchased all my crap. Im runnign sundown 2000d and 4x100 for the interior setup.

thanks so much brother i really aprreciate ur help man is there a car auido from in toyotanation? if not send me a link please
what are you installing that you need to push such strong amps? don't overpower shit that doesn't need it, a 1500 amp powering a 1000 peak sub is gonna sound the same as a 1000 amp one. you don't even need it to be @ peak, you never reach that, just a little higher than rms and you're fine. interested in seeing why you need so much power for a cam
http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/ This is my favorite lots of ground pounders.
Id also keep your stock battery for now up front and get one good one for the back. there are guys on that forum that sell batteries cheap and are in florida just gotta look for them. I would upgrade as you go. as long as you have the proper wiring you should be good but the second battery is a must and do not buy a bass capacitor they are garbage.
