Debadging & You

So I've researched the board enough to know the process. However I had a few questions before debadging my SE.

When I bought the car, at the dealership, I had a protective paint coating applied to the car. It essentially was a wax/compound they put on and buffed off. Am I going to notice a difference where my emblems were? (bought the car July 4th weekend)

Some people have used 3M Adhesive remover, others Goo Gone, I've heard paint thinner (via this board) works as well? Are all of these safe for the clear coat?

Lastly, fishing line or dental floss? Seems like they both are the same damn thing. I'll post some pics afterwards. Nice day out today, but I might do this later this evening and take my wife's hair dryer out to the garage.

I've debadged, rebadged, debadged again and again. lol No, you won't notice the difference, just clean the residue with goo gone and use some scratch remover (I used KIT) to clean it up real good. Fishing line is the best, just wet the area before you start to prevent scratch. Dental floss will take you ages to remove it because it keeps breaking. haha.. Don't ever, ever use credit card though, it WILL scratch your paint down to the metal. lol

what is/are the reasons why one "debadges" a car......??

I was able to pull mine off by hand then a little pain thinner. No way you will notice it if its that new. People do it for a cleaner look and to be unique. All personal preference.

when I debadged I used like a 50 lb. fishing line so it wouldn't break and there was a slight difference in the paint because I got the same coating you did and on black it is easier to notice... never had to use goo gone or anything like that cause it all came off right away but hit that spot with a little rubbing compound and couldnt tell the camry had ever been there

Looks naked. ppl hate naked so much that they tattoos all over their body.

I was tempted to rebadge and put a 1.8 but it's not worth it.

So I did it! I admit it was a hella of alot easier than I thought. Got some fishing line, goo gone, wife's hair dryer, than washed the two areas where the badges were. No spots, zero scratches and a perfect finish!
